I'm looking for some help locating Cross Stitch Dies; circles, squares, and rectangles in particular. I know that MFT and Lawn Fawn both carry them, but I was hoping to get a list of other manufacturers as well so I could compare sizes, prices, etc.
Not too long ago I visited a site that had very reasonable dies, but I forgot what site it was! Ugh! I'm pretty sure I wrote it down on a scrap of paper but that scrap of paper is lost...please tell me I'm not the only one who does this!
I have found that not all of the "cross stitches" on the dies are the same...something I hadn't realized, but important to know if you wanted to mix dies from different companies.

FYI, anytime I see something online that I want to come back to someday, I add it to one of my Pinterest boards. Eliminates the need for scraps of paper which I was always losing. Glad someone had the info you needed.
Great idea, Cindy I had not thought of that...but I am glad to know that there are others with "scraps of paper"! LOL Also, this is just another reason to love Pinterest!
The cross stitch dies have been on my wish list for some time! I plan on ordering the MFT ones for two reasons. 1.) You get more shapes for the money compared to Lawn Fawn, and 2.) The Lawn Fawn are just X's around the edge, whereas the MFT looks like a true cross stitch with one overlapping the other. Just thought I'd point it out. Good luck! (By the way, if you order from MFT, you can get a discount at certain price levels)
Very good point, Mary Rose, I had not noticed that! The MFT X's do look more like an actual "stitch", and I am all for the discount. The thing I wasn't a fan of was the sizing; the largest wouldn't cover the entire A2 card front. The Lawn Fawn dies do, so I based my decision on that. I'm trying to get away from matting my layers most of the time; I think the little extra design element may help with this obsession to do so. I just feel like it doesn't look finished if I don't and I don't always have the time to spend on extra layering. Will see how it works out.
I have also noticed that some of the X's have a dot in the middle. If you click on the card sample you will see what I mean:
I confess that I went with the Lawn Fawn and the Gina Marie. :oops: (It's a bit like my daughter telling me yesterday that she accidentialy spent $85 at Sephora. Ooops, it just fell into my cart! ;) I told her she is her mother's daughter for sure!)
The Gina Marie actually looks more like a tiny flower to me than a cross stitch, which I like a lot. Maybe that's just me.
And no, I drown in paper scraps all the time. I finally learned to have a pad of paper by the computer so I just scribble notes on that instead that I can cross off when it's time. But that does not save me from stuff I write down when I am outside, etc.
The thing I was going to mention about the stitched dies that I had to learn was there are four kinds.
1) single stitch line around the perimeter of the cut out shape.
2) single stitch line " " " " " " " plus around the edge of the frame left. (i always forget which is the neg and the pos)
3) double stitch line on the cut out shape running next to each other
4) double stitch line on the cut out shape-one on each edge-the cut out is a frame, not a solid.
You might want to keep that in mind also if you look to add to your collection
Yes, PTI dies run through all die cut machines, including Big Shot, etc.
PTI created stitching dies to be used with felt so that items could be stitched with DMC. But they can also be used with paper and stitched, or simply left alone. Hope that helps!
Good morning, ladies......I have a question about these dies. Do they have to go through your embossing machine twice, like Spellbinders? Once to cut and once to emboss?

Jeanne-My Favorite Things does. You have to be CAREFUL...they make a LOT of variations, so really LOOK at what it is. Open it and enlarge it before putting it in your cart.
this is the oval, but they all four-oval, circle, square and rectangle. Not cheap, you will want a sale.

They also do it as a pierced, which is what I got as that was the set they put on a big sale for all 4 shapes.
Other companies may also do it. I cant remember.
Thank you, thank you! This is exactly what I want---only in the rectangle, which I found, thanks to you. You mentioned pierced. Is what I'm looking at NOT pierced? If so, is it just debossed, or what?
