Don't have watercolors? No problem - smash your ink pads onto waxed paper and add water to use as paint. Pour reinkers onto a paper plate and add water.
Remember in addition to your watercolor or ink you must use at least one additional medium for this challenge.
Ohhhh! Ahhh!! So....my daughter's plans changed again which leaves me a little free time today so maybe I can play. The samples are gorgeous! Thanks so much for the video!!!
As I said in my write-up - most of our April showers, for the last week at least, have been hail and snow. Not conducive to flowers! Hoping for a dry day tomorrow to put in some work on my dad's garden, and off now to do some more baking and stuff to bring down with us...
This was WAY out of my comfort zone, but I decided to give it a try - actually 5 tries. This is as good as it was going to get and makes it obvious why I like dies so much. Here is BLOOM - my valiant attempt at free hand water color. The samples are so beautiful!

Lydia- great challenge, thanks! I had this cool large leafed background from a stamping buddy, and added SU's In the Meadow for my trees, mountains, and deer. Drew simple purplish blue flowers, cut with a hexagon punch to fit the space. Did a watercolor wash, and used a buttons/twine combo for my embellie. Here's Spring Greenery

Thanks so much for the wonderful challenge! I used the MISTI for the sentiment and I have left it in place so that later after my "to do" list is done I can come back and create more watercolor layers as extra birthday cards!

What a wonderful challenge, and beautiful card, Lydia! (I've yet to look at the other cards.)
I'm new to SCS, obviously, and have just begun playing with mixed media. I took a little on-line class where we used watercolors, and fell in love, albeit at the most beginner level.
Are the challenges for a week at a time? I'd like to participate in this one or the next, if I'm late to the party. I'll have to figure out the logistics of how to post a photo, but am looking forward to joining all of you mixed media gurus.
I've looked at some - not all - of the rest of your cards, and I have to say, you're hard on yourselves! They're terrific, and all are so different from the initial example too. That's impressive; when I'm shown a technique it's initially hard for me to do it differently than a not-so-hot version of the example. {applause}

I'm sorry no one has answered your question yet. Yes, the challenges are up for a week. The Mixed Media one is posted on Fridays....there are other challenges for every other day of the week (color challenge, sketch challenge, etc)..check them out. I'm sure you'll get hooked. There is no time limit on completing a challenge. Make sure when you post your card to put the challenge number in the keywords,,,for this one it would be MIX170. That way it will be included in the gallery for that particular challenge. Also it's a good idea to post in the thread and link your card here. That way lots of people will get to see it. Mixed Media is really fun and new to a lot of us. Sometimes the challenges will highlight a specific technique or maybe give you a theme or inspiration. Welcome and have fun playing!
