IC535 - Paintings for Ants by Lorraine Loots {03-05-16}
Many of you may be aware of my love for 'miniatures'! I just love anything scaled down from the real life size. (I have no idea why that is! LOL) I have a dollhouse replica of my craft room, and I even have a 1/144 size house, complete with living room, bathroom, dining area, kitchen and bath that fits in the palm of my hand! So it was just natural for me to fall in love with Lorraine Loots a South African artist who's work will amaze you! Over the past few years she has done amazing miniature artwork that I truly hope you are going to enjoy on this week's inspiration challenge site: Paintings for Ants ....and wait....there's more: if you'd like a bonus challenge (totally optional), design something cool with the theme of "miniature" art in mind and share your mini-vision with us in your description. Have fun!
HELPFUL SITE TIPS:
After selecting the year (2013, 2014, or 2015), click on the month on the right side of the page. Once the month is open scan for a picture that you like, then click on it to make it big. Once it's big you'll be able to copy the URL address for your card description (fyi: each URL includes the date when the painting was done). If this is way too much clicking for you; just use one of the 15 images I've uploaded at the bottom of the post, and grab the SCS hyperlink for 1 of those instead.
Listen to her story....I bet something inside of you will relate to her. 8-)
(If an ad pops up hit the x in the top right hand corner of the little ad to close it.)
Challenge Goals: Please don't be tempted to upload a card that you have made prior to this challenge, just because a pattern/picture on the page reminds you of it - this is all about creating from an inspiration. :cool: So, please take the challenge of allowing your creative juices to flow based on the images you browse this week. Remember, it can just be the color palette or style that ignites your creativity. Whatever draws you to the designs, take the challenge of doing something uniquely inspired today.
How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work.
Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site). Also, remember to link to your SCS gallery on this thread. For those of you who say you get overwhelmed with having too many images to choose from, I've uploaded 15 of my favorites. So just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. Click on the images below to see them bigger and to get their links on SCS.
Thank you for joining me on this inspiration journey.
Audrie what a fabulous site! The video is so interesting and I love the name of her site! I'm hoping to be able to play today. I knew you liked miniatures but didn't know you have a tiny replica of your craft room...can you post a picture of that..I would love to see it. I'm sure others would, too....thanks :p

I love the world of miniatures. I knew a woman who made lots of miniature rooms and went to a class with her where I made a lovely little garden scene inside a paper gift bag. It was so much fun. Thanks for the memory, Audrie! Here's my card for today:
Audrie- an amazing site! I was inspired by the ocean print Day 52 and used a dc circle as my canvas, adding 3 shades of blue/green. Used a dc tree, and added a vellum hand written sentiment. Here's Ocean Sunset

Super fun!!!!! When (if) I retire, I want to build my own miniature house....I bet yours is awesome, Audrie!! Thanks for another wonderful challenge!!!
Thank you so much for being interested in this project. It was created at the end of 2012, since then the room as changed A LOT! but the furniture is still the same. Interesting thing...the dollhouse on top right of the bookcase represented a much bigger 1/12 scale dollhouse that is over at a friends house now (she redid the roof for me). The funny thing is that the mini-doll house in this room box is also a real doll house (1/144). It opens to show several rooms. (In the photo only 1 room was done at the time (the living room on the lower left of it). Just made me laugh to go and look at this to take a quick snapshot for you!
Hope you don't mind the iPhone photo!
Hugs,
Audrie

Audrie this is so cool!! I love seeing your craft room in miniature! Oh my gosh...the laptop on top of your storage bins..the little stool...what amazing details!!! Thanks so much for indulging my curiosity.
All of the images at Lorraine Loots' site were amazing, but I was inspired by one in particular -rabbits..22 may 2013 ? Paintings for Ants My card features some adorable AI rabbits with a gigantic carrot. How far could I stray from a challenge inspired by miniatures? as I mentioned in the card description, the Gigantic Carrot stamp is dated 1998 and was drawn and signed by Dianna Marcum.
