I must have a 6"x6" area that is clear! I have an 8 foot table, and sometimes it seems my free area to craft shrinks down to smaller than a cardfront! ;-o

Great thread! Can't wait to see what everyone else has to say!

Maintain sanity? If I were doing that, I probably wouldn't have gotten addicted five minutes after buying my first $25 worth of supplies to help my granddaughter make a birthday card for her best friend. The leftover supplies from that project forced me to buy other supplies, which then started another project......I've been 11 years trying to finish up supplies and a card project both at the same time. Last month i bought 100 gold envelopes for a card project that bombed because the die is faulty, so I'm less and less likely to end this insanity any year soon, trying to use up those 100 gold envelopes.

I must have a certain level of creative clutter otherwise my creative mojo just shuts down. It's gotta be just right though, not too little and not too much ;)

Sanity maintained by: ice cold Diet Pepsi in a S'Well bottle (no chance of spillage!); having my scissors, my bone folder and my tweezers visible and within reach; a clean card base with no ink smears...

Wait, that's too much. I don't think I've even been declared sane... so no way to maintain!

Nah, I stamp just for the halibut.

My Silhouette working correctly. If that thing is misbehaving (which is me not knowing how something is supposed to work), I get rather cranky and insane.

See everything that I have — or at least see the baskets or containers that hold everything that I have. I cannot have things hidden away in cupboards or closets! I just forget that they are there. Janet1000 and I talked about this on another thread, I think.

And guess what – I'm in good company!

Fun question!

I like to have music so a radio or CD player. I cant have a tv-I would stop and watch it. Helps me break out of the real world to think creatively.

Sunlight/a good window. Otherwise really good, bright lighting. I cant stand trying to figure out color shades etc b/c lighting is poor. Especially now that my eyes are not what they were.

Something to drink hot or cold.

On the best days-a friend over to play with me.

OMG...I cant believe TH's space. That is a LOT of stuff-both the "collection" and the stamping stuff. I've seen antique barns with less stuff LOL.

What I want to know...he never uses any other brand of anything? EVER? That was all his lines of stuff.

It's great that we're all different. Having everything out like Tim does would make me nuts; it would be too overwhelming for me.

What has worked for me to reclaim my sanity: a major purge. Going through all the stuff I've accumulated over the past 20 years (I really have been stamping that long!), and ONLY KEEPING WHAT I LOVE AND USING WHAT BRINGS ME JOY. And yes, I started this process a long time before I read Marie Kondo's book.

And now to maintain: I really need to find a way to have my inkpads easily accessible. I love the 2- and 3-step stamps and use any and all inks in my arsenal to achieve the look I want. So that means a lot of stamp pads are continuously covering my desk. When I find a way to have them handy but not actually cluttering up my desk - that's my last major hurdle.

I'm open to suggestions. Ideas, anyone?

I must have my most-used items within arms reach. I also need to see most of the stuff I use.

Out of sight equals out of mind. I even took the doors off the closet in my craft room so that I can easily see what's on those shelves. Things that are not in plain site are in drawers that are labeled with their contents.

I've been slowly working on having a place for everything and doing my best to keep everything in its place -- well, except for when it's on my craft table. When I have to hunt for something under the piles of paper pieces I know it's time to clean up so I can start making a mess again.

A spice spinner rack. I have double decker ones in my spice cabinets. You can stack your pads on 2 levels and spin it to have access to all the pads with little real estate being taken up on the counter top.

I watched the TH video. I'm bad about this myself, but his rooms made it hard for me to breathe. The collections he has on every surface... every inch of wall space. Wow.

This is the spinning spice rack - one of them. There are all kinds. I saw a spinning nail polish racks also which would be a good fit for our needs.

I can't seem to imbed the URL this morning. I'm not running on all 4 tires today.

I found the spinning spice racks on Amazon, plus some other spinning tables that would work well also.

lol. Not on all four wheels. Good line!

I like that this one is SS so you can easily wipe off ink...10 inch dia isnt huge but also wont hold tons of regular size pads....maybe 4 stacks per level in a plus sign formation, maybe 6 per stack?.... but might be better for distress size? The uprights are small which also good...but it has no edge so stuff could slide off?

....come to the crafting table in a happy mood and play music.

I know for many stamping is therapy, but I just cannot create when I am down. I wish I could because stamping makes me happy. The ideas just don't come, though. Exercise is what pulls me out of a funk, then I head to the crafting table with a clear, happy, creative mind!

wavejumper, I'm not looking for anything else to go on my desk. And I don't want to have to stack inkpads on top of each other.

I would like something I could roll up to my desk, with shallow drawers so the inkpads could be one layer. I don't think any kind of wall storage would work with the cubes and teardrop pads.

~my laptop for Pinterest, Splitcoast and Spotify. Which leads me to my next point

~Music- seasonal, jazz, contemporary worship or country depending on my mood

~cinnamon hearts! I buy copious quantities around Valentine's Day and they last me the year

You could put this Acrylic Box onto something with weels. It fits the teardrop pads perfectly.
MUJI UK Acrylic Box - 5 Drawers
It is available in the US, but the store seems to be down at the moment.
MUJI USA Acrylic Box - 5 Drawers (the regular price would be $27.95, the special price $23.76).

I need to add that I must have light and my craft items in my craft room.

There was a little snafu while getting a new roof last week. I have to repaint my ceiling and replace the electrical box and light fixture in my ceiling. Here it is October HYCCT challenge month and I'm in the process of emptying my craft room so my son and I can get in there and do home improvements.

The table top has to be clean and in order, but I don't care how much stuff is out of place in the rest of the room.

Watched the Tim Holtz video. All the "stuff" in his house would drive me insane. You would always be dusting!

I love Tim's space, but got a little motion-sick watching it. Whoever's holding the camera just swings it wildly and here and there and it's nearly un-watchable!! I have to look at the side and depend on the peripheral vision.

But I would hire someone to dust everything periodically; I wouldn't do it myself.

What happened there? How did I get into Canadian Amazon? I sure didnt see that price. That's just crazy pants. Sorry.

I am thinking though if anyone is interested they might check restaurant suppliers.

Hmm. ok got it. Single layer roll up shelves. I have to admit I have mine in plastic boxes and the un-packing of the stacks all the time is annoying so I get that.

......I prefer to have either sports on TV or the 80's music channel. Come next month, I'll be able to put Christmas music on the music channel - yippee!

I always have swaps to do or a project to work on. Just random stamping doesn't work for me - I have to have a "to do" list

Cell phone within reach to hear texts or calls.

A cup of tea in the morning helps too but I keep it far away from my work!

To maintain your sanity in your craft area, you must:

Have my crafting mojo flowing, my craft space free of clutter and clear of old projects, my computer either on splitcoasters or youtube, the tv showing one of my pvr'd programs...not much really lol!
(Fill in as many blanks as you need.)

You've got to watch the sellers on Amazon. I always look for items that are sold by or at least fulfilled by Amazon. Here is that two tier stainless steel lazy susan for $13 USD: http://www.amazon.com/Greenco-Stainl...rds=lazy+susan

I'm with Amber - I have to have an uncluttered, organized work area. It also helps if I know DH is entertained and I don't have any deadlines looming for anything...
