Default MIX137 - It's a Grand Old Flag

Challenge Title: It's a Grand Old Flag
Hostess: UnderstandBlue (Lydia)
Keyword: MIX137

Ready for a new Mix-Ability challenge?!! We hope you're having fun with these! Our goal is to make mixed media easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it! Have you seen our Mixed Media forum? I have found so much inspiration there!

I'm not going to lie - 9/11 changed my psyche forever.

This day is hard for me, no matter how many years go by - and I think that's true for anyone who experiences any sort of loss, on any day.

You may know me as a Texan, but I'm actually a New Yorker - I was born in New York and also went to college there.

I came to my senses about cold weather eventually and that's why I live in the Great Republic now, but New York is a huge part of who I am.

So today I feel like it's only right to honor our flag and this great country, and so my challenge is simple.

Use stars, stripes, the colors red white and blue or all of the above on your project. Just please use at least two mediums - and bonus points for you if you use stars in one medium and stripes in another.

For my card, I chose the red white & blue option, and I actually did these two cards live on Periscope today. These broadcasts are available for 24 hours, and you can watch this one here until about 1 PM central today. I used Derwent ArtBars, a white pigment re-inker, and ink for my mediums.

Remember while you do this project that the unexpected is always around the corner - enjoy every moment, be kind, try not to worry, don't take things too seriously, have fun & celebrate your freedom. Make art while the sun shines

Thank you Lydia! I now have a Twitter account! LOL. Don't know what to do with it, but loved your broadcast! Now, how do I know when a live one is on so I can watch one live!
Can't wait to do this challenge! Fun!

Today is the anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. This card is dedicated that tragedy.

I am done with mine, Lydia! I finally am using something that I never knew how to use! LOL
Here is Hopeful Flag.

I learned a lot more than just using my waatrcolour pencils today! SCS has given me an education these last 6 years!
