Mulberry Paper for Making Flowers

I'm looking for the same weight of mulberry paper that Prima or other companies use to make paper flowers. I can't tell from searching various sites what the correct weight should be.

My favorite paper for making flowers is watercolor paper but I want a softer look. So far I've tried coffee filter paper, SU filter paper and they are too light weight; crepe paper (yuck); and I bought mulberry paper from local suppliers but it's too heavy. Yes, I have a Goldilocks problem in that I want it just right.

Can you suggest what weight is similar to the paper flowers we buy?

I am not too sure about the exact thickness you are looking for. But as you know you can separate stampin'up's cardstock. I pull it apart then die cut the pieces. You can use the 'fluffy' side or the plain side and can shade and colour it with ink and small make-up sponges. I use these all the time and am pleased with the look and weight of the flowers.

Sue, thanks so much for the suggestion I haven't done that in a long time so it's good to have a reminder. The problem is that cardstock won't hold up for what I need, especially if I separate it. Mulberry paper has fibers that hold the paper together.

If you are cutting your flowers with a pressure die cut machine, the die cutting will compress the paper, making it seem lots thinner.
