Hi this is MariLynn here. It is my turn to host the mixed media challenge. Innovative, creative, original... those are all words that I like to hear when people discuss my artwork. To me, being innovative starts with these two words "What if?" That is partly why I love mixed media so much. It forces me to try new things.
The other day I saw a craft post about painting on salt.
Painting in salt
I thought it looked like a fun technique.I thought... What if I used white glue instead of a glue stick?
That is what I thought I would pick for a challenge for you.
Now you may look at all the weekly challenges and be intimidated by the challenges. I want to let you in on a secret... Sometimes we fail. I know you are shocked.
I tried to do this technique with white glue and it didn't work like I wanted it to. Ok, it was horrible. If you want to read more about my example you can read about it on my blog:
Mississippi McGyver
So my challenge is to get over your fear. Say "What if?" and try something new.
It may work, and then again it might not. You won't know unless you try. In my opinion, it is better to try something and fail, then to have never tried anything new.
Maybe you can try the salt painting and you will do better than I did, or you can try something else. Just make sure you have at least 2 different mediums to qualify as mixed media.
Here is the gallery for this challenge:
