Oh yeah, the first card I ever made was for my girlfriend of 50 years. It cost me $85 in Stampin Up supplies!

A stamping friend sent this to me a couple of days ago. I responded, " That's why I stamp on the back of all my cards, 'The World's Most Expensive Card Company'."
Too true.

Too funny! I was commissioned to make a special card for a woman's daughter's wedding. Spent 30.00 in stamps overseas and another 20 at the local craft store for supplies. She paid me 10.00.

My daughter sent that to me. And boy is it true. I made a birthday card for a friend (not very close) that had requested nearly 6 weeks ahead of time and wanted a Tea themed card. Well I didn't have anything that I thought would work so I found the Spellbinders tea cups and could only get them from the UK(about $40.00) and found some real cute stamps from Paper Sweeties (about $30.00). Then bought a couple of different paper pads to make sure everything looked real nice. I delivered in time after stressing to get it just right. She paid me $5.00 and then when I asked how the card was liked she said she forgot to take it and left it in her trunk!!! UGH!

Ha, that is not the reason I got into it. I have always liked sending cards, bought or homemade and somewhere along the line, I was just drawn into (trying to) make cards. Cannot believe a magazine would say that. Not the reality at all for most of us. It is one expensive hobby is all I can say. I just don't want to even think of the $$$ I have spent.

All I can say is going to a therapist is a lot more expensive. Stamps are my therapist.

This reminds me of a comment a friend made when I showed her a junk journal I made: Wow, you could sell these!

Let's see, figuring in all of the stamps, tools and consumables I used, plus the paper and my time (roughly 8 hours) I'd probably make about a nickel an hour LOL

HA HA . Must share this with my girlfriend who I got into Stamping. When she finds more supplies she just 'has to have' she tells her hubby it is all my fault for getting her started.

For years I've thought about getting a custom stamp made that says, " Yes I save money making my own cards. This card only cost $ __ __ __.95" and have 3 small dashes to fill in the dollars. One day, I may actually it have it made.
