I just read in a newsletter that with the new releases Spellbinders will have new "friendly " packaging . It is supposed to be envelope style so we can store them in it .
Does that mean I can put the hack saw and wire cutters back into the garage!!
I am thrilled!
I hope they also found some new double sided tape . The dies are light weight . They don't need an adhesive tape that is strong enough to hold a fender on a car . LOL
Here is the newsletter entry Our newest releases will be packaged in an envelope-style format. This package friendly design will have a project inspiration on the front, will make it easier to open your purchases and will give you more options to store them in the new packaging. Look for this change starting from our 2014 Winter CHA releases.

LOLLLLLLLLLL @ your post!!! I have wondered so many times why Spellbinders dies HAD to be hermetically sealed. And yes, that 'tape of death'......I always approached a new pack of Spellbinders dies with a sense of trepidation hahahaha
What GREAT news this is about more friendly packaging WOOHOO. Thanks for sharing, Barb

That sounds fantastic and then I can store the dies in the envelopes just like my Memory Box dies. You are right about the sticky stuff, and the harder I try and get it off, the more it seems to spread - uggh, I will be SO HAPPY to not have it anymore - YAY!

Too funny! I am always afraid I am going to snap them right in half!!!

Bwahaha...Barbara...you're a hoot. I saw the new packaging in person at CHA and I knew the Spellbinder fans would be thrilled at this improvement.
I'm not a big fan of the blister packaging that so many companies use...but in defense of the crazy-awful-stuff-to-get-open plastic...I do use that left over stuff in my crafting when I need firm clear die cuts, or shapes. Whatever will I do now? LOL
So......What took them so L O N G to figure this out!!!!! I have cut myself twice on these packages.
I totally agree with your post!!!!!

On some of the early Spellbinders, the tape took the finish off the die!
I have reused some of the clear packaging as long as it wasn't too scratched up.
Like the spellbinder dies but sometimes it is a chore of determination to get them off the cardboard and out of the heat sealed plastic without damaging them.

I HATED opening a new pkg of spellbinders dies. I actually bent some of them getting them off that retched tape.........glad to hear they are improving the packaging looooooooong over do.
I can just see it!
After we get the new envelope packaging and see if it is an efficient storage idea we may be spending hours making envelopes for all of our other Spellbinder dies

Maybe they will give us the opportunity to buy extra packets for our old dies!
I hated the awful tape they used - so unnecessarily strong!! I put all my Spellbinder dies on cut-to-size magnetic sheets (vent covers from Ace Hardware or Home Depot).
Well...about flippin' time! Those sealed packages and that 'stronger than dirt' tape was a hazard to your health! I don't know how many times I have almost lost a fingernail or an eye trying to get those dies off the backing! LOL Halleluiah!!!!!
I think they are going to be packaged like memory box and mft now. Was a surprise but ok with me. I do not cut the spellbinders packages i simply part the top between the tabs and pull thecwhole page out and put back the same way. It works for me and i hated cutting the packages a couple years back.
Blessings.

I have done the same thing!

Love the new packaging. I wish Spellbinders would sell empties so I could repackage all my previously purchased ones in the new style. I do still like the images of the dies on the the old packaging better---- more contrast and easier to see at a glance. The new ones they all are pastel and look a lot alike.
lololol......"adhesive strong enough to hold a fender bender" Amen to that!! I've broken too many fingernails trying to pry those things off after I've finally been able to hack through the packaging.

I have a full file drawer of the plastic I can send you!

And that my friend is why I have my dh open the package and CAREFULLY take them apart. I get to impatient for packaging and am excited to start using it so I start ripping and slashing and generally end up breaking something. In return bringing it to my dh and asking him to fix it. I am new to the excitement of dies and have been looking for a way to store them. I hope this new envelope will be perfect.
I never had any trouble with the old packaging. It is open at the top, so you just pull it apart and pull out the cardboard with the dies attached. Slide the dies and cardboard back in when done, and push the plastic back closed. No need to cut anything. What are you cutting? The new packaging takes up less room, so I do like it better though.

I hadn't realized they were open at the top until after I had bought lots of sets. I just cut around the "bumpy" edges, as if the top was also sealed shut (which I had always assumed they were).

OMG I never realized they were open at the top -- groan!
I would not have needed all the CD cases to store the dies after I cut the packaging .

I really like Little B dies because of the magnetic folder their dies come in. So glad to see Spellbinders getting on board with a more permanent storage solution. My massive spellbinders collection has been the most difficult for me to wrangle.

Ok so both me and my dh looked at the packaging, as I have stated before I am a rip and slash type of girl, and the top was not opened. Maybe I had a fluke of packaging. I will try it again, when I purchase my next one, thank you for the suggestion.
There were a few I had to cut all four sides to get the dies out, because the ends were fused, unable to open packaging.

THANK YOU
I was beginning to wonder if I was getting dense .
I was sure the tops were sealed in the past and after a while I never checked them again . I just assumed they were sealed and cut them off
I am still happy Spellbinders designed new packaging.

What makes me happy is it will give me a way to store my dies properly. I purchased my Wizard in 2011 thinking oh I will use it. . . um jump forward to January 2014 when I created all (430) of the thank you cards for my sister's funeral. I used my first die and well it is history now. I use it for a bit and then when my arm gets tired, my dh jumps in and well he loves playing with it.
I do agree with all of those how do you store you dies?
So now on to find more dies to enjoy my Wizard with. Yippee.
