I can't wait.... VSN's are always fun and make me HAPPY!!!
Besides I get to buy new stuff, have new people to converse with over something we all love to do, and of course there is always a new technique that someone comes up with that I have not tried yet!
Hi everyone, I've been missing in action but hope to play along this time, got one card done for the last VSN and didn't even post it!!
Trouble is everyone here has retired but I haven't and while things should be slowing down a bit everything seems to have sped up and I don't know if I'm coming or going.
Never mind only seven more months and I will be retired too. Woo Hoo.
Cheers
Marg
Can someone please give like a paragraph or two of an overview or synopsis, rather than asking us to wade through nine pages of questions and answers and draw inferences? Is it scrapping? Stamping? What is a typical schedule like? What will I be making? How long will I have to do things? When and where should I be looking for details, etc? Why is there a mini and a main? What's the difference? Are there prizes?
Because some of those questions are from people who already know a little bit about what a VSN is.

Each VSN (Virtual Stamp Night) has a theme. This time the theme is "Happy". All of the challenges will be related in some form to that theme. The mini this time is on May 8th & there will be 2 challenges. Each challenge has a time frame of 45 min & you'll have a week to upload your card. There is a new challenge posted on the hour (ish) The "main" is a 2 day event. This time it is June 12 & 13. There will be 10 challenges for the main. Again, 45 min to complete each challenge & a week to upload. There may or may not be prizes, it just depends on what Lee & I can get approved between now & then! ;)
VSN or virtual stamp night is on two evenings, Friday and Saturday for the main and just on a Friday for the mini. Two days for the main VSN gives individuals who work a chance to participate if they are busy on the other day.
It is a night of stamping, commenting, and chatting, online with new and old friends from all over at Splitcoaststampers.
You are given challenges by a group of volunteer hostess every hour. You get 45 minutes to complete the challenge, you regulate the time yourself. You are given one week to upload your card or project.
You do not need to do every challenge that is posted.
Each VSN has a theme, so hostesses submit their ideas based on that theme and are picked by the individuals in charge of the VSN Challenge at SCS.
We all love making cards and/or projects here so the idea of VSN is to give us ideas for our cards/projects and to share our love of stamping with others, who of course share that same love of stamping.
Currently, I do not know if prizes will be awarded. They will announce that as it get closer.
Everyone at SCS is ready to help with any information that you need. Don't be afraid to ask questions, chances are someone else is wondering about the same thing you are!!
I see you have a couple of responses, so I hope that helps. I want to add a bit
The theme is a jumping off point...but the challenges vary in so many fun ways.
For instance, when the theme was "Opposites Attract" we had a challenge to make 2 cards using the same stamps, but one more girly, the other boyish. That same weekend, one challenge asked us to make a card in our comfort zone (markers and blender pens for me) and one out of our comfort zone (paper piecing for me)
Hmmmmmmm...I think that is the only VSN where many challenges involved 2 cards!
Another VSN focused on Summer... one challenge was to create a card inspired by a book we have read or might read over summer break...another was to use bright citrus colors inspired by a lemonade stand
If a hostess has a challenge that requires special materials, we try to get a shopping list posted in advance. I personally have so much stuff that I rarely shop just for VSN (though I did last time for my own challenge!)
The main thing for me is to have fun...and I encourage everyone else to do so, too! Sometimes outside of VSN I spend hours on one card. VSN kicks my adrenaline into high gear! I love the time limit (don't worry...there are no VSN police!) VSN sets up a different atmosphere for my creativity.
Plus, I love getting to know people in the VSN forum...lots of fun people!!

Guess what???? We have a couple of special prizes to give away this next VSN.....after the Main of course! ;) You'll just have to wait for more info!
I'm filling in the hostess spreadsheet & then will notify all of the hostesses. It looks like I might have an empty spot or two... anyone else want to throw their idea into the hat???? ;)

Misti,
If you have empty spaces I will do two challenges, not a problem!
How do I join in on the VSN? What do I do? It sounds like fun and just what I need to give me a creative jump start!
I am so glad you want to join us! Keep an eye on this thread, and all of the threads in the VSN forum. As Ann mentioned, there are just 2 challenge posted on a Friday night for the mini. Consider it a warm-up!
The basic gist is that you make a project within one hour...but you will have a full week to upload a picture to your gallery here. We encourage uploading to this site, as opposed to Pinterest, for the challenges...you will get more comments and gallery love! If you do not have a gallery yet, check out the main gallery page (from the menu up top) and you can start one with just one photo. Of course, you can still upload to other sites after this one; but for challenge feedback, this is where we hang out!
Hope to see you!

Thank you Kim P for reminding me in our blogging group chat thread that the VSN event is this weekend! Hope I have what it takes to play along this time since most of my crafting stuff is in storage.
I have a dumb question. Once the VSN is over, can we use the theme and make cards after that date and post them? Also can we use a past monthly theme and make ones already ended? thanks.
