You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
Welcome and thanks for joining us! We are a group of stampers with too many sets that rarely (if ever) see ink! But we are changing that in 2015! Sign up here to join us and every Monday you should list a stamp set and the number of cards you plan to make with this set. You can make one or fifty but make a commitment. Then you can post in your gallery with the keyword USEIT2015 and we should have our own gallery. You can find treasures in your stamp collection or maybe some that aren't your style.
I will keep track of who is meeting their goals and there may be some prizes in the future!
Please add your name and perhaps which set you will use first..... our first week in January 5th - 11th.
Thanks for starting the 2015 "USE IT" challenge. I don't have many stamp sets that have never seen any ink, but I have a lot of sets where only one (maybe two) stamps have been inked.
For the Jan 5th-11th challenge I will be using (for the first time) the stamp set "Sohcahtoa" by Altenew Stamps and I will be making at least 5 cards.

I had to Google this stamp company - LOVE their stamps!!! I love the different stamps - going on my wishlist!! TFS
I want to join this challenge - must go thru my stamps and get some ideas going!

I plan to be part of this challenge but because of family life I won't probably be able to start anything until at least next week. And that may be iffy as well because I absolutely have to reorganize my entire craft area. I'm literally unable to work there until I get it done. But I think I can get a couple cards done next week, I'll figure out my stamp set then. I've also made some scrapbooking goals so I might bring these two challenges together sometimes.

smcdonough (staceylovespaper) I will make at least 1 card and my first set is from Simon Says Stamp "hand lettered winter wishes" I think I am going to up my ante by using some DSP as well as a stamp set. I have so much patterned paper that I think is too pretty to cut up

Thinking about giving this a try. I have stamp sets that I don't even know I have here. Usually once I use a stamp or set I don't want to use it again.
I may get a late start as I have a craft room to reassemble and not sure how long that may take me to put in order.
I'm in! I think that I'll combine this challenge with my other challenge to do more of the daily SCS challenges. Maybe it'd be interesting to see if I can use the same set for each challenge that week in a different way...? No idea which set I'll start with, but I'll scope it out before next week happens!

Sharing my thoughts and discoveries -
Since I go back to work tomorrow, I decided to take today and begin on this challenge. I must say that I have lots of paper, cardstock, stamps and embellishments that I will not spend a lot of time trying to use it - just not worth investing the time in them! However, I selected a stamp set (SU Sweet Dreams) that has never seen ink until today! I have made 5 cards with that set using retired and unwanted paper, cs, and embellies. I like the way they turned out and the cards will definitely be used, but given the number of un-inked stamp sets that I have, I think 5 cards with this set is enough.
I discovered that if my dsp is not small print - it's got to go as I only make cards (no scrapbooking). I also realized that I am not into DSP all that much any more!
What I am really saying is - now that I am confronted with my "stuff" and feel that I need to create with it - some of the "stuff" isn't me and I can now let go of it!
I have a box for BST and/or donating - Sweet Dreams is in it with lots of other things!
I will post photos when I know the USEIT2015 gallery is open.
When I gave myself this challenge a few years ago (to use every set I own during that calendar year) I was really able to get rid of sets easier. When I found it difficult or not enjoyable using a set, I knew beyond a doubt that I could part with it. I have a feeling the same will be happening this time around.
I sure have a lot of DSP that I need to use up.

I would like to join in, but with a very small commitment. The last two years I have had way too little stamping time, and sometimes it's only making samples for the weekly challenges that makes me stamp - and that doesn't get enough new rubber inky!!
So I would like to commit to inking up at least one un-inked stamp each week, whether that's in combination with a regular weekly challenge, or just to keep myself on target! Sad thing is I probably have enough stamps to see me through the year, shame on me.
Thanks, Diann.
I'll post tomorrow or the day after with my first stamp - I've been sick in bed the last week.
I'm not sure how this works, but I am posting a photo of the stamp set I am going to use this week. it's not really a set, but it's 8 stamps together in a case, which I bought used about three years ago and have never inked up myself. I have already used the solid flower stamp on my ledger cover mixed media piece, seen in the link. Proverbs 3:5-6 'Trust in the Lord' by yellowrose46 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I don't have a huge stash, but I'm aware that what I have is enough and this challenge will help me feel that! I have a bunch of SU wood mounted sets that I bought years ago and haven't used much lately (I kind of went overboard on the flower sets LOL). So I will commit to one card a week, combining it with the Monday? CAS challenge hopefully, and I'm going to start by using one of those sets...
This sounds fun. I would like to give it a try. How long is this, all year? I can't promise I can commit all year, I will be gone sometimes and can't make cards. I will make at least 1 card the first week but not sure which stamp set yet. Will post later when I decide.
This isn't exactly a set, but I got a LOT of Purple Onion stamps in the Thanksgiving sale, so I am committing to using at least 4 that I haven't used yet this month - it will probably work out at more stamps, so I'll say 4 cards in January using un-inked POD stamps .
Glad the week only starts today - I'm still off work sick :-(, but at least I might get a card made tomorrow! Silver linings and all that.
Should we post our cards here as well? I'm new to this site and trying to search for "useit2015" just brought up these blog posts — is it possible to just search galleries for the keywords?
Anyway, here's my card (realized I had tried a resist technique with this very stamp set and never finished the card, so this challenge was perfect :-)
I got a head start (instead of procrastinating) for once in my life, and made two cards with two sets I'd never used. Both cards were CASED from cards in the gallery. The first set I used was SU "Definitely Decorative Daisy" and the other one was SU "Celebrate In Style". For this week I plan on making 2 cards with SU "All Wrapped Up". All 3 of these sets are sets I've had for years that I've never inked. In fact, 2 of them hadn't been mounted yet.
I'm pretty good about only purchasing stamp sets that I KNOW I am going to use, so every single one of my sets has seen ink at some point! Some of my sets have not seen MUCH ink though, so I am going to start with the Stampin' Up! hostess set Nuts About You. I think this set is so adorable, yet I think I've only used it a few times. I think this would be a good one for valentine's, so I will start there. My goal needs to be very small to start or I will give up before I start, so I am going to try for three cards with this set this week. Thanks for giving me a place to write down my challenge so I will actually try to stick with it!
Can someone message me or something. I am having trouble uploading a card and I have other questions also. I went into the contact and filled out all fields but it kept coming back telling me I needed a subject and message, both of which I had filled in. Thanks zipper28
I followed Ina here. Kept seeing this keyword in her cards. I would like to try.
I am looking forward to Sale-a-Bration, and then I realize I have Sale-A-Bration sets I haven't used but maybe one stamp out of the set! So I will commit to making some cards using
Vintage Verses and
You're Lovely this week.
Is that how we do it?
OK, so I sat down 3 times yesterday to do a card, was interuppted 3 times and never did get back to it. I made a card today. Now, my question, can I post it as useit2015 or what? I had originally asked how to upload but I figured that out, I think. Having a senior moment here.
I would like to be included in this challenge but if it goes like yesterday I won't get many done and I may not do any in the summer when I am gone. Today I used Timless Treasures for the first time. I will submit my card. tp USEIT2015?
I am the author of this challenge and I am also tech-challenge. I am trying to fill out the form to hear from a moderator but I keep getting the message to fill out subject and message which I have filled out. I will try to message the challenge moderators. I can't seem to catch them when they are on.
This is the message I sent to the three challenge moderators:
Hello. I hope you can help. I am trying to start a new challenge USEIT2015. There is quite a bit of interest when you see the post. However, should it be listed in the challenges with Monday highlighted in red? And how do we get a gallery? I see others are trying to send messages and post without success. Can you help?
Diann
I've been following this thread after seeing Ina over here too but was undecided if I should join up as I'm not a stamper, I really don't have many stamps and most are christmas themes, If it's ok I will join in when I can.

It's only the established ongoing weekly challenges officially hosted by SCS that get the listing and link on the home page, you'll see that most of the "smaller" challenges down here that are simply hosted on a voluntary basis don't.As for the gallery, the keyword is all you need, and that's the same for all the regular challenges. The only ones where you can actually upload to a fixed gallery are HYCCT, DTGD and VSN. Use the keyword when you upload and you're in the gallery.

It is totally possible to search the gallery by keywords, just go to a gallery page and you'll see a clickable link saying SEARCH over on the lefthand side of the screen.Just be aware that when you upload a card using a challenge keyword, your card won't appear straightaway in the challenge gallery. The gallery database is HUGE and keywords take a few minutes to sync.
But, if you click on the keyword in your upload, and it takes you to the other cards already uploaded for the challenge, then you have done things correctly and your card will show there shortly.
I did something wrong. I submitted my card an d saw it in the gallery for a short time. I used the title and USEIT2015. Whatever I did it isn't showing up in this challenge page. I can delete it and start over again, forgot how to submit it here.

It won't show up on this page unless you add it as an attachment. In the Advanced Reply options, click on the little paperclip icon above the text entry box, and then you navigate and choose the file to attach.
Unlike uploading to the gallery, size IS an issue, so make sure before you attach something that it's not much more than 1000 pixels high (or wide, whichever is bigger).
What should happen to see the gallery, is that you type USEIT2015 into the search box in the gallery and it brings up all cards with that keyword.
Or simply click here : USEIT2015 Gallery
Here is my first card for this challenge. I used one stamp out of Vintage Verses. I had used one of the stamps before. So I still have two stamps out of it to use. So I need to make two more cards out of that set. :( So I didnt say how many cards. I think I will do one stamp set a week. (instead of two as I posted above. I will do that one next week)
So if you are keeping track I guess three cards for this week. And here is one! Thanks
