I was looking through the new su Occasions catalog and on page 22 there is a set called Sheltering tree. Does anyone know what the image is just above the rake? I can't for the life of me figure out what that is!
I don't have the catalog here at work, but could it be the bike frame? I noticed that the bike is stamped in pieces.
Thanks...I figured it out just before you posted! I had a friend here and we looked and looked and looked. I thought it looked like a tent or a kite if you turned it sideways. Then I said to my friend, I wonder if it is something to do with the bike and we looked....sure enough, it was the frame!
Didn't SU have a set named Sheltering Tree, or a set that was very much like this? I remember looking on Ebay a while back and the prices always went too high because it was so cute, and useful.

I don't remember the name of the set, but SU DID have a set with a very similar-looking tree. I didn't get that one, so I'm very happy to see this one I've heard some complaints from other customers, though, that SU seems to be doing this too much - retiring a set and then coming back with one a catalog or two later that is very similar.

Oh, so then it's not just me? I thought maybe I was getting cranky in my old age or something... I've noticed the same thing, and when I've looked at "sneak peeks" (haven't seen actual SAB or Occasions catalogs yet), my first thought was "How many butterfly and floral sets do we need?" I suppose it's nice for relatively new stampers or those who "missed the boat" on the earlier sets, but there does seem to be a lot of redundancy. My biggest complaint is having the exact same sentiment repeated over and over. There are books and books of quotes and poems - do we really need another "the essence of love is kindness" (for example)? I already have three!

Someone posted on the other side that if you stamp the frame one way it's a girl's bike and the other way it's a boy's bike. I totally didn't see that myself.

I had enough trouble figuring out what it was, so I can't picture the boy/girl thing! LOL Maybe I could make a copy of the piece and try placing it. I can't picture it in my head without a real visual. Interesting though. Thanks for sharing.

Basically it allows you the option of making the bike body a special color. You could stamp it with metallic ink and make the wheels, seat, etc all black.
Or you could do blue for a boy and pink for a girl.
I would also consider using a metallic embossing powder for the bike body and of course black for the rest. That way it could be a realistic looking bike.
Lots of ideas.
Here are a few pictures to help illustrate:

Oh, that makes more sense. I thought you meant the bar was there for the boys bike but if you turned the stamp and stamped upside down, that bar wouldn't be there...duh...I'm not totally with it today!
I'm so thrilled they came out with this set. I made the mistake of not getting Branch Out and regretted it... and I like this one even better! Now if only my Christmas cards would magically get themselves accomplished so I can play with it : )

I am too new to SU to have seen Branch Out, but I expect even those who do have it might find it helpful to have a photopolymer option. It will make it much easier to use. It's a set I look forward to getting.
