HYCCT1423 Tissue? I Hardly Even Know You Chat Thread
Challenge Title: Tissue? I hardly even know you!
Hostess: stampinCPA aka Debbi
Keyword: HYCCT1423
Date: Thursday, October 23, 2014
The title comes from an old joke, but cancer is no laughing matter.
Diagnosis and treatment can be overwhelming, resulting in a release of emotion through tears - tears of sadness, tears of joy, tears of frustration, tears of exhaustion. Tears need tissues. Your challenge is to use tissue paper on your card. Some techniques to inspire you include faux silk, acetate and tissue, and tissue flowers.

Thank you for participating in this card drive!
Thank you to my fabulous fellow HYCCT Challenge Hostesses for the plethora of outstanding samples!
I have to work today, and I have to go to a client's for a meeting. But I'll be around as much as I can. I'm looking forward to spending some quality time oggling at your fabulous creativity!
Debbi, thanks for the fun challenge. I have read descriptions about tissue paper technique and always wanted to try it but if I am not mistaken this is my first one. Very fun challenge. For my first try I used a really juicy ink and it spread too much. If I get the oompah, I might put it on a card and see if peeps thinks it's good enough to send.
Fun technique..I chose the faux silk. BTW-I noticed that your challenge number in the title is wrong..it just says HYCCT23..I hope everyone copies the other number which is correct..HYCCT1423.
Wonderful Challenge! All these tissue techniques are new to me. I have used tissue for another kind of flower, but it's so dimensional it's nearly impossible to mail. I chose the Faux Silk technique, and after a small problem with drying the ink, I managed something I'm pretty happy with. I don't know if you're supposed to get all the wrinkles out when adhering it to the cardstock, but I got most of them .... thinking if you got them all out what would be the point of using the tissue and crinkling? Here is my Garden Script

I went with a red tissue dp die cut leaves background, along with a tissue napkin stamped panel, gently colored. Added some orange polka dot dp for an accent. Here's Owl Friend

Decided to give the faux silk technique another go- and came up with this winter themed red flowers card- adding some ribbons for accents. Here's Red Flowers

I f I'm not mistaken, Lydia used Blendabilites (alcohol markers) to color on hers. Not the same as dying. I've "dyed" using sponging, but not submerging in ink. I know I have different "strength" tissue papers and I think some of the coated ones might handle it, but I don't know if the coating would absorb the ink.
I've printed it off and added it to the pile of catch up. Migraines are getting in my way this week. Once I find a few minutes of pain free time to create, the freakin headache comes back before I can upload. Have a week's worth of HYCCT stuff to pic and upload.

No worries, Bonnie. Take your time. The gallery isn't going anywhere. Feel better.
