Default Rolodex Die Compared to Spiral Punch

The new catalog has a die to make Rolodex cards.

On the back of the Spring Mini from 2007 there is a rolodex file and the spiral punch is next to the rolodex unit.

When I tried to make a rolodex card with the spiral punch I couldn't get the squares deep enough. Has anyone been able to make rolodex cards with the spiral punch? If yes . . . how did you do it?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Question spiral punch

I have also tried using the spiral punch to make the rolodex cards. With the guide on the edge of the spiral punch, it seems impossible to get just two centered punches that are required to fit into the rolodex card holder. It's hard to explain and harder to make it work the way it shows it on the back of the mini. Sure hope someone can help.

Do I have to buy the new rolodex die cut or can I make the spiral punch work?

I have the BossKut rolodex die. It is called "Address Card" #0529 I'm so glad I got a few years ago. It's totally much cheaper than what SU is selling in their catalog. The die is the exact size as a rolodex cards for your rolodex holders.

Rolodex also makes their very own punch that you can purchase in an office supply store. I found mine at OfficeMax or OfficeDepot, right next to the rolodex files.

It is called a "rolodex business address card punch" or something to that effect and runs around $7.

Works great! The SU! spiral punch does *not* fit the rolodex files, but I am not sure yet if the new die they sell does or does not.

you can also get the punch at www.shophowdoyouglue.com where they also sell many colors of rolodex cards, and unfinished wooden rolodexes!

Thanks everyone for the info. My friend and I knew this was the place to go for help.

It sounds like there are several options available to be able to make a rolodex card.

I still wonder why Stampin Up would show the photo of the rolodex file and give the impression that the spiral punch was used to create the project.

Thanks again for the information.

I just use the 1/4" square punch and then cut the cards myself. As long as you have one rolodex card as a guide you will be fine. I have been in many rolodex swaps.

Default spiral punch

Thanks for the suggestions. I am sure there are many ways to accomplish making a rolodex card but I guess I was more curious as to how to do it using the spiral punch. SU leads one to believe that it can be done with the spiral punch because it is pictured beside the rolodex. If anyone has the Spring Mini Catalog March 1-June 30, 2007 - look on the back cover and you will see what I mean. Guess I just need to move on. Thanks again to everyone.
