8th Annual Shoebox Swap for NW Washington and Lower BC
(or for anyone beyond those borders who just loves to play with stamps)
Date... Saturday, October 4 Time... 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
9:00 - 9:30 = arrival and coffee
9:30 we start crafting
Place... Laurel Church (just north of Bellingham, WA) map
Registration fee... $10 ($5 for the church and $5 for the fun stuff)
Prize for the favorite project!!!
Heres the Plan... Design a card (or other project... ornament, box, bag, etc)
Create 2 completed cards (1 to display with your kits and 1 to display for voting)
Create 20 kits of your card. Put the kits in a shoebox or small basket
Each project/shoebox will be set at a marked space
All swappers will move from project to project. (Some people will finish faster than others, but there is plenty of space to work side by side when needed. Each of us will go home with 19 new projects.)
Preparation: * Design and create your card or other item.
* Assemble 2 finished examples one for the working table and one for the "vote here" table.
* Prepare enough kits for 20 duplicates. Do a good bit of the cutting and stamping ahead of time. We will basically be assembling the projects while sharing fun and laughter.
* Use 20 small bags or envelopes and put one kit in each.
* Be sure to print 20 copies of your instructions... one for each kit, NOT just one copy for your table
* You do not need to provide tape and glue for your project.... each swapper should bring her own.
Your kits... * 20 kits (19 for us gals to make + 1 in case there are any mistakes)
* any necessary "stuff" to create your project
+ 1 completed item so we can see what were making
+ 1 completed item to enter in the Vote for Best Project
Also bring... * Your own tape, glue, pop-dots, scissors, pen, pencils et cetera. In other words, a small tool kit to carry with you from project to project.
Sack Lunch... This works well and no leftovers!
Name Tag... Create your own name tag. Make it a piece of artwork that you can be proud to wear.
Janitors request... No loose glitter. No embossing powder. Those things get in the carpet and stay for months. Stickles are fine. Watercolors and chalk are great.
Free Stuff? Do you have a FEW things in your craft room that you probably are never going to use???? Bring them for our FREE STUFF box. Please, NOT a ton of stuff. Just a few things.
Operation Write Home * Check the link below. They do not need as many this year. If you would like to donate a few cards for Operation Write Home, I would be happy to send them to Sandy in Federal Way along with all the others I need to mail.
Can't wait to come! My friend Shirley will be coming this year too and she has hinted that her project might be making a piece of jewelry?! Sounds great! Can't wait to be there!
Thanks Garnet and MaryEllen! My check is in the mail today!

Thanks Garnet and MaryEllen! My check is in the mail today!
Did I mention that I will not be there? Debbi and Mary Ellen are in charge!
Thank you Garnet for entrusting Debbi & me with managing the Shoebox swap this year. It won't be the same without you, but we will do our best.
We are excited to host this fun once a year event! Looking forward to a creative stamping day on Oct 4th.
I encourage you to take a minute to let us know you are planning on attending. Six ladies have expressed interest, many thanks! Your names will appear on the list as your payment is received.
Enjoy the beautiful day, Mary Ellen
It was great to get together with Garnet & Debbi yesterday to complete the plans for the shoebox swap. Thank you Garnet for all the tech instruction and updating the site. Debbi you are the best organizer and your secretary.
This year's swap is going to fantastic, you will want to be part of the fun!
Cheers! Mary Ellen
I had to wait until I saw my son's cross country schedule (they have a lot of Saturday meets) and it looks like I'll be able to make it this year! His meet is in Eastern Washington that day so I'd rather have some crafting time than drive over there. I'll get my check in the mail this week.
I've been suffering a severe loss of mojo the last few months, so I hope I can get a project put together.

Thanks Sandy for spreading the word about this stamping get together. It is always a lot of fun and you leave with new ideas and a big handful of cards.
Good afternoon, everyone! Have you guys worked on your project? I'm getting my supplies ready - it's not easy with working full time and taking care of 2 little ones....Alex Jr already started 1st grade so there is homework to do, too....we have open house tonight, so I don't know if I will have time tonight, but we still have ....oh my, 3 weeks left!!!????
Where has the time gone? Ok, see you guys later!
Take care!

Can't wait to see the amazing card you bring this year. Plus, we are giving gift certificates for our top 2 vote getting stamping projects.
Only three days are left to sign up for this shoebox swap!
You be one to make all the magic happen by reserving your spot today.
I'm positive you will enjoy the day with stamping friends. Thank you
We made our minimum of 10 shoebox swappers! Yay!
Make 10 kits plus two 2 completed cards.
We should be done around 1:00 pm.
Doors open at 9 am, we start stamping at 9:30 am.
See you one week from tomorrow, Oct. 4
I am feeling so bad right now, I know that I responded to this thread a few weeks ago that I'd be able to make it, but unfortunately life has gotten in the way once again. I would have no trouble making it to the event, but I just haven't had any stamping time this month to get a project put together. And when I saw that this was happening this Saturday, I knew that there would be no way I could participate. For some reason I thought it was only mid September and I had a couple more weeks:rolleyes:
Anyway, I hope that you'll forgive my lapse and I'll try to make it happen next year.

I hope you all have a great time on Saturday. Wish I could be there this year! But it's a bit of a commute from the land down under! I hope you'll be able to post the pictures of the cards. I love seeing everyone's creativity.
Hope to see you all at next year's event.
Karen
