We have set up multiple forums for specific topics. The more people post in the appropriate forum rather than post most topics in a "select few" (like general stamping) the more these forums will become active as well.
We kindly request you not post in the hopes of directing members to other forums; it kind of defeats the purpose. ;)
If you would like you can always add a link to your signature line so more people see your event.

Schaumburg area would work for me since I live in the near west burbs. Not sure how June/July will shake out for me, though, since we'll have major construction going on and out-of-town trips for camp and softball. I'll watch for your date and hope I can make it...great idea!

Sorry britta!! I know this can be frustrating... moving threads and merging them... thanks for the good idea about the sig, line...
Might I suggest that everyone interested do the same thing?? Add this thread to your signature line! Lets get a great BIG group together... shoot for MID July. I can get a cheap conference room at a Courtyard Mariott so if we all pitch in it should be just a minimal fee (under $10)
For those who don't know... A shoebox swap works like this... you make one great card (all SU! supplies, layers, embelishments, all non-retired stuff)... then you BRING supplies (cut and ready to go for assembly) for however many participants we have, you also bring all the tools... punches and inks needed. Everything BUT the adhesive... So then we just set up a different station for each card and go around the room making all the cards! (if we have a bunch of people coming then we will just divide the group in half) Demonstrators usually just make card fronts... but I think we should make the whole card.
So I really hope we can get a BIG group... at least 40 people!! That's my goal!
I'm in, and I guess I can help organize...sigh. You know I'd do anything to bask in the glow of Sarah the Super Stamper! Let me know what you need, love, and I will promptly ignore it!! LOL! Sounds great, new catty shoe box swap!
I chatted today with a great lady..SCS Bev Barton. I guess she is planning something in June... I can't wait to go! Look for her thread coming soon!
So I was thinking... I just want some great cards...and I think a shoebox swap after the new catty comes out would be GREAT! So late july, early August.
I'm in Glen Ellyn and would participate. I can't go to Bev's event in June - boo hoo - those darn relative weddings . . .anyway, let me know when you get some dates! Suzanne

I think this sounds great. But June or July is so far away.... and i want to play now! Seriously, my girlfriend and I are definitely interested. We live in the Des Plaines area.
I'm interested in attending but have a few questions.
1. Are non-demos, new to shoebox gatherings welcome?
2. Does the card have to be a completely original idea?

Non Demos welcome...VERY WELCOME!!!!
The card could be cased for SURE... just try to credit the original artist if you can....
There is a first time for everyone! Shoeboxes are so much fun, and you really learn a lot! I will post some more specific dates as we get closer... but tell your friends and mark your calendars!
Is there a location for this event? I see the date in the first thread but didn't see a cost or location? Is there another place to look that I am missing (it would not be the first time! LOL). I am in Madison but if it's in the NW 'burbs I would drive down for the day - 2 hours is worth it for STAMPING!!
Well I have yet to pick a location... I am in Elgin, and I have used the Courtyard Marriott their on many occasion.. But perhaps Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates would be more centrally located? That was my thought anyways..
Also... about 5 minutes ago my upline called me to tell me she in organizing a HUGE (100 plus) post convention stamp-a-stack event in elgin for the date I choose! So much for pre-planning! I can't very well host a competitive event the same day as my upline (plus, I imagine I... and everyone else who can will want to attend THAT!) So to be honest I think the date might have to change... but as she hasn't settled a on a venue yet either, I am hesitant to chance my date until she confirms hers.
So what are your thoughts on Shaumburg or Hoffman Estates?
Shaumburg or Hoffman Estates would certainly be good for me, easy to get to from here! You would probably get more draw from the Milwaukee area with that location too.
Although if the date changes, I may not be able to come, depends on where it moves to. I will keep an eye on this thread because I would love to be able to attend - I did my first SCS shoebox in Madison in January and had such fun! Good luck planning - group events can be so tough with alllllll those details!
stay tuned... I will be calling Monday to see if I can reserve the courtyard marriott in Schaumburg for a new date in august (Perhaps the 13th?) Sorry for all the changes; but my upline and her team (and me too!) are hosting a big fundraising event now on the 5th.
Thanks everyone for being so patient... I promise that this will be a great afternoon!
Hey there. Just wondering if I would be able to SEND a card for people to make? Obviously wouldn't be able to send my inks. But I would be interested in participating through the mail. That area (not really sure exactly where that is) is too far from central Wisconsin.
Just let me know.
Thanks, Sarah!!

For you Kelly... of course! You can just make swaps and mail them... I will ask participants to bring "MADE" cards for those that pre-register for completed swaps. I will work all that out in the details... Great idea!
