'Coloring' stamped images

Just hoping you all can give me a little insight about coloring stamped images. I have used regular cardstock in the past and have recently used SU! Watercolor paper. I really like the way the SU! Paper works, but don't like the cost so much. Is there another paper you use? Something you buy at Hobby Lobby or Michael's with a coupon? I use mostly SU! Markers. Thanks!

You can purchase watercolor paper at most craft stores. I usually get Strathmore cold press 140# paper. It seems to be pretty comparable to the SU! paper. It comes in tablet form and the sheets are 9 X 12. So, if I don't have the SU! paper, I use that. HTH

There are 2 types of watercolor paper:

Cold press which has a bumpy surface, it's the more traditional surface/look but can be hard to stamp on so be sure your ink pad is "juicy".
Hot press is a smooth surface paper - think ironed finish



Watercolor paper also come in weights from 90# on up. The lower the number the cheaper the paper but the more it will warp and be harder to work on. You will probably need to find a happy medium, cheap enough for your budget but not so cheap you give up using your watercolors all together.

I get ultra smooth cardstock from the Paper Cut or Marco's paper. I really like coloring with watercolor pencils and a Dove blender pen. If I am coloring on glossy paper I stamp with India Ink stamp pad and color with Prismacolor markers
