I received the SU catalog today. Nothing appeals to me. I was hoping for a wow, last years catalog didn't excite me. I like stamps and was hoping for lot's of interesting stamps sets. I like the stamps from years ago. I will keep looking for the sets on my wish list.
Still not crazy about the layout. I have to skip so many pages but I do like most of it. The stuff on my list is not a lot of new stuff. I always buy the in color markers and and assorted pack of the in color paper.
I don't like the layout of the catty. I also noticed the past couple of years, plus this new catty has less card samples in it. I always liked the card samples for each stamp set.

Eh. As always, I see to like more of the embellishments than the stamps themselves. I wish i could have seen more stamps that we can use the new blendabilities with.

I find myself buying fewer and fewer stamp sets with each new catalog the last few years. I usually love the stamps in the minis better. But I will always love their card stock and matching inks/ribbons/embellishments.
I was so looking forward to the new catalog. My Demo gave me a copy. There is absolutely nothing I want. Not even paper or embellishments. When I look at my older catalogs I wish I had bought more stamps then. Maybe when the next Holiday Occasion one comes out I will see something I want. Maybe if I see stuff in person I may change my mind.

Not a demo, but I love it. So many things on my list, love the layout, love all the examples, so many fun stamps for me to purchase and other goodies. I'm in and waiting for order day so I can start playing with new goodies.
I have had mine for awhile now and there is a lot of post its sticking out so I guess I liked quite a bit of the new stuff. My problem is that with the way they are laying it out now I miss things. Its difficult to see everything thats for sale. I have a very long list.
Blessings.
I was really looking forward to this catalog, but absolutely hate the new layout. I do get the strong impression I am no longer in their target customer range. It really seemed to me that there were fewer stamp sets than usual, but a whole lot more kits & projects - most of which I wouldn't want to make and certainly wouldn't give to anyone. The blendabilities would definitely interest me, however, I am on such a limited budget that they are not feasible. I was surprised they did not have more colorable sets in view of the major new alcohol markers product reveal. This is my least favorite catalog since that one when they went through their last major style revision and everything in the catalog was all circles, poorly done line drawings and doodlie type stuff. (Does anyone remember that one?) This one is definitely better than that one.
I'm not crazy about the layout, it's too cluttered and all over the place. I'm not inspired by any of the samples, thank goodness for this place and the galleries!
I wasn't impressed. Not at all. But that's ok. I have waaaay too much stuff! At this point I don't see myself buying a lot of new stamps anyway. I do like the new In Colors, and while I liked the packaging ideas, I would like to see more samples with the new stamps.

Exactly my reaction - way too much "fluff" for me. I went through the entire catalog and found it hard to even concentrate on the stamps, and so didn't find a single one to put on my list. I am sure I will see samples here that will make me want some though... I probably won't even remember seeing them in the catalog!
I, too am disappointed in the catalog layout. I viewed it online. In particular the photos of the printed cardstock/paper don't give a good idea of what the papers really look like. I also found it hard to locate items. I think I understand the idea of enticing buyers by showing completed projects, but it seems like they're forgetting their bread and butter business, i.e. card makers. Are they really selling huge volume of the party, home decor, DIY items? It seemed to me like that was taking over the catalog. Just my two cents.

I like the layout, but really do not have many stamps on my wish list (like lots of you). There is a layered flower set I like. I have a few stamp sets I still want from last year. I have close to 150 stamp sets and feel like I have more than enough. Two or three new sets each year is plenty.
What I do want are the fun "extras". Masks, cool vellum, some punches, some thinlits, etc. I really want that cool flip thinlit from last year. The circle one.
There's more of those kind of things I want, just can't remember what! They are really a fun order to get too!
I'm not liking the new in-colors at all except Blackberry Biss.....yum! I only get one or two IC anyway. There fun and fresh, but it's frustrating when they leave! It's always fun when they return to the main line up though!

I don't have one yet, but I have seen some sneak peeks on a few challenge blogs. I really like the striped in-color ribbon (well, it's tone-on-tone, but has a striped texture). I am a serious ribbon addict, so I will probably get a bunch of that. Only 2 of the new in-colors interest me, but I always get the inks any way (and a mix pack of card stock to try them out)...I love color, and end up using lots of shades. I hope the stamps don't interest me...I am running out of room! LOL

I thought the catalog was just okay. Nothing spectacular, but doable. I don't like the set up/layout. Like many of you have said, it's just too much extra stuff that's not needed. I'm not big into the stamps sets anyhow, I mostly get Christmas/Winter sets. After selling off all of my stuff a few years ago, I realized that I missed doing my Christmas cards. So I've started back from scratch but now, only concentrate on getting stuff to make my Christmas cards. So it looks like I'll have to wait a couple more months to wait until that catty comes out. I don't like the fact that they're not in the big catalog anymore but what can ya do?
I'm also a scrapbooker and I'm JUST getting into Project Life. Well, not really the whole Project Life thing, but I'm going to start scrapping using the different types of pocket pages. I am WAY behind on my scrapbooking and I think this will be a way of getting a lot more done, faster. So from this catalog, I plan on getting some of the Project Life stamp sets, framelits and then I'm gonna splurge and get the paper trimmer along with the rotary arm and scallop & wave blades. That'll be my first order. Other than that, there might be a couple other things here & there that I might pick up through the year.

Agree w/those who, like me, don't appreciate the current style of the catty. Looking thru those first few dozen pgs usually results in them either giving me a headache or making me dizzy.
I've read many customers pay to have office supply stores do a spiral binding on their cattys . Am beginning to wonder if this is truly for ease of handling OR... so they don't have to page thru all those early, worthless pgs before they get to something useful/helpful. Of course this leaves them w/less $$$ to spend on product.
I look to the catty (at least I used to) because I'm not at all creative. I rely on the SU design team ideas (+ split coast postings) + what I consider to be the best-made products in the industry to help me create cards I actually want to send to people. Please don't bore me at the very BEGINNING of your 'new products fashion show' (which is truly what the catty is)...I may become disheartened, assume there's nothing in it for me, and not proceed past the busy-ness of those early pgs.
the stamp section, for me; is way too busy; not much appealed to me. I do really like the supply section; the 2 page colors layout. I was surprised by how many kits were in the catalog; maybe, nice for someone not wanting to get into it too much or a beginner.

So far, I'm really liking the catalog. The layout doesn't bother me. I'm not finding many stamps that appeal to me, especially among the sentiments. Some of them are just bizarre. I'm sure they were just trying to be clever/hip, but they totally missed the mark and made me cringe on a few. Example: If I'm going to give somebody a little "Sumthin, Sumthin", it won't be on a card;), and I'm certainly not passing out any "Lovin From My Oven. Anyone else think these are weird? I finding that the colors, dies and accessories are what's appealing to me this year. Love the new In Colors! As for stamps, I've been leaning more toward companies like Taylored Expressions and Lawn Fawn.
Like many others I find the layout too busy. I was surprised at the large section devoted to party favors/decor/and gift packaging items. I think they "saved" themselves with the card making section but overall it's too cluttered for me to enjoy lazily paging through it.
Not a single stamp set appealed to me. Perhaps after I see my demo use some I will decide I "need" them. :-).
I really like the new In-Color selections, and this is the first one I've liked in a while. I will absolutely be purchasing the new purple color. I will probably purchase the assortment pack of paper and ink pads then add on a refill and a complete pack of paper for the purple.
Other than that; there are some embellishments I liked, mostly the silver and gold twine and skinny ribbon; thinking ahead to holiday cards.
This will save me some money and I can look forward to maybe finding some new sets for Christmas cards when the next "mini" comes out.
I'm not at all impressed with the new catalog. It seems there is less stamp sets and more "other" crafting supplies which I don't use. It sure isn't conducive to buying.
I'm a hobby demo so I've had some time with the catalog already, and despite the cluttered layout I'm actually finding more that I like in this catalog than in the past 2. Yes, some stuff is strange (no one is getting any "lovin' from my oven"), but many of the stamps appeal to me.

No blog for me. My gallery chronicles my card-making successes and mishaps.
First time I flipped through, I was not impressed. Then I did a thorough reading When I get the new catalog each year I go through and mark all the items I already own, I'm sure I don't need to explain why. I also use sticky tabs so I can find sections because the order doesn't make sense to me. This is the first year I will not be taking it to have the spine sliced off and binding attached. There are not enough examples so I won't be needing to lay it flat while I CAS. I find my examples here or by searching for images, or my pins.
At stamp club this week my fabulous demo had some items that she's purchased and I must say that I am in LOVE with the new in-colors. They are so much better in person, very rich. The new itty punch set looks like something I'll use too.
There was a stamp set that caught my eye, and old one, that had a much better example in this catalog.
I greatly appreciate the stamp set samples in the back, but I need to wear my glasses to see them.
Give it another look and I bet you'll have no trouble spending $$$$

Isn't it funny how a new catalog and new samples can make you look at an "old" set in a whole new light? Happens to me every year and occasionally I don't even realize at first it is an old set! :-)
Personally, I love the catalog but I always do. And honestly I'm glad they change up the look and layout. I'd be bored if they always looked the same but I'm just like that. I like a lot of the stamps but I'm trying not to buy as many these days and I have a bad habit of pretty much getting what I want all at once which is dumb lol! And then I come here and see so much more I NEED from amazing things people do that I would have never given a second thought to.....
I also wasn't a fan of the in colors at first but then I saw them in person and I do like them! They work well together and with other colors and I think they will be really great for fall cards which I really enjoy making!
I haven't gotten mine yet...I was told "it's in the mail" but I have an online link that I've looked at briefly. I can say that I was happy to see sets I haven't yet acquired still in there but I am slightly disappointed there aren't more stamp sets that have the look of By The Tide...I like that style of stamp so much!
But that said, there are still quite a few things to like...a lot! Can't wait to see it IRL!!
I saw on the website something about getting a new printer and some items being discontinued. Can anyone explain that in simple terms. I couldn't wrap my brain around that. I must be tired!

If you use Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio (MDS) software for digital designs, and send it to print through SU, the products you can order (journals, albums, cards, etc.) will soon be changing, as their printing service has switched to a different vendor. Some low-sales items have changed and there's some improvements (thicker white cardstock for some, ability to print your own Project Life style pocket cards).
If you use SU physical products only, then you don't need to worry.

Thank you so much! Makes perfect sense when you explained it!
