Default WT480 ~ Paper Tole/Pop It Up ~ {5/22/2014}

It's Sabrina here with the WTUI challenge this week. Today we are popping layers of an image up.
Not adding dimension to your matting layers; but parts, or at least one part, of your image must be popped up ;-).
There are a couple of tutorials that you could try - or you can simply pop any part of an image up on dimensionals.
Perhaps you have a pre-printed paper tole/dcoupage (European term) kit - feel free to use that if you do. I did, for my second sample!

Tutorials:
Paper Tole Flower
3D Paper Piecing

The second tutorial uses a liquid glue. I've tried using silicone glue in the past for dcoupage but I don't like the smell and don't have the patience to wait for it to dry ;). It's great if neither of those put you off! The glue mentioned in the tutorial, I'm not familiar with it but it says it's odourless which has to make it better than silicone glue in my book!
For my Teddy sample I used foam tape in two different thicknesses.

After you've made your paper tole/image with a popped-up element card and uploaded it, come and post a link here to make it easy for people to find and comment! Make sure to use the keyword WT480 when you are uploading - and if your card is based on one of the tutorials, choose that gallery when you're uploading.

Here is a link to our Paper Tole / Pop It Up gallery.

Here's my Bear Thoughts sample.
Here's my Thinking Gorjuss Thoughts sample, using a decoupage kit from DoCrafts.

Need help linking your card? Follow these instructions!

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Thank you Sabrina for this challenge !
Great for me as you mentioned we could use some pre-printed paper tole/dcoupage sheets (European term)
I have a tip for you : after cutting the paper, you might use some ink to get rid of the white cutting edges (if your paper is not colored through and through).
I needed a wedding card...

Wonderful challenge today, Sabrina. The two technique I learned first in papercrafting were fussy cutting and dcoupage. I was living in Arizona at the time and found a little English gift store and tea shoppe. The woman who owned it was named Maggie. I had never seen handmade cards before and she opened the world of papercrafting to me. I was smitten and the rest is history. She taught me how to fussy cut like no other, and dcoupage as well. I enjoyed many an afternoon with her sipping a cuppa and making cards while she tended the store. If I have some time I'll definitely play along.

I guess that fussy-cutting and dcoupage went hand in hand in the old days, before the days of pre-punched sheets ;). I have to admit that I pass up on quite a lot of dies that match stamps because unless you're bulk-stamping, fussy-cutting is quite enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your story, Susie.

Heart WT480 Choose Happiness

My family has had some health issues this week, so I deliberately made a very cheerful card to remind me- Choose Happiness. Thanks to my SCS buddies, close friends and family, especially my DD for being so supportive!

I love this set from TE- Dig In- and used the matching dies for my earth moving equipment and caution cone. Used dimensionals for my button, cone, and digger. Colored my embossed leaf background for fun. Here's Caution Birthday Ahead

I love to pop things up...this challenge had my name on it, lol! Here's my card (although I don't have an "image"), I popped up a fussy cut flower from coordinating designer paper along with the other small flowers and bird.

Here's my challenge card, "The Lifter of My Head"

I'm crunched for commenting but will try to visit all the pretties in the gallery this evening or tomorrow. Thanks for a fun challenge!

Thanks for the challenge - it made me think outside the square for a change instead of having just one layer for my image.
