Heart No "C" plate with the new Cuttlebug

My brand new CB machine did not come with a "C" plate. I always used my "C" plate for the framelets from SU. Now how am I going to able to cut them without the "C" plate??? Can any help me?

I think Joann's carries the C plate.

So you are saying that I need to purchase the C plate . Is there not any other way to do the die cutting without the C plate?

The C plate is for using non-Provocraft items so they don't include it anymore.

That really stinks since there are SO many dies to use with it, I use my Bug for Nesties than anything else. I had to order my C plate at Joann online last year when I broke mine. And I was told at a convention once that she always cuts into her C plate and that she hadn't worn one out yet and I always do my B and have gone through a few of them.

So many dies, yes, but not Provocraft dies. Just like they sued (and won) over non-PC software designed for Cricuts.

So that is why they no longer include it! I wondered what the reasoning was.

I think they are trying for exclusivity. That is what it seems like anyways. I was watching a tutorial done by Quickcutz the other day and they were showing how to use their dies with not only their machine, but their competitors machines as well. I was impressed that they recognize that we all use different things.

People started pointing out that it was pissy of Provo Craft to sue the makers of third-party software for the Cricut when Provo Craft shipped the Cuttlebug with a C plate to use with third-party dies.

So now the Cuttlebug does not ship with a C plate. In PC's mind, making people pay for the C plate makes everything okay.

Considering the paltry selection of Cuttlebug dies this seems counter productive.

Spellbinders also shows people how to use their dies in other machines. As a result they sell a ton of dies. Who wants to need to buy a new machine every time they see a die they like . We would all have enough machines to stock a Die Cutting Machine Museum.
Furthermore the profit is in the dies not the machines.

Exactly why people are running away from the Cricut and toward all the other machines.

Even Sizzix, maker of the eclips cutter and cartridges for that machine, now offers a custom version of SCAL (called eCAL) so crafters can use their eclips both with and without cartridges.

I got my CB C plate online at Simon Says Stamp - I could not find it in stores - now I know why. I was just replacing mine but if my CB kicks it I won't get another since they want to be goffy about die use - I'd get a competitor machine for sure! Don't they realize that the only reason I (and several other crafters I'm sure) use their machine is for cutting with 3rd party dies??? The CB dies stink and the embossing folders crack my cardstock!

That explains why I didn't get a 'C' plate when buying my CB. I do use all kinds of dies and ef in the machine.

Well I'm glad I came her before I bought my back up die cutter. I have a big shot and was going to buy a cuttlebug as a back up. Guess I will go with the Big Kick....

I bought a CB at least 4 or 5 years ago and it didn't come with a C pad. Should it have since you all are talking as if they used to and don't any longer? I always used embossing folders and PC dies but I just ordered some Framelits dies from SU! - I hope they work!

I bought mine just a couple of years ago, and did not get the c plate. I just bought one last month, but to be honest, I haven't used it yet. I also bought the rubber pads to use with nesties and such, but haven't used those, either

I got mine about 9 months ago and it came with a C plate. I got it at Big Lots though, so it may have been from "back in the day"

My friend just ordered the C plate on line from Provocraft. You need the C plate in order to use the Spellbinder die cuts and the new SU frame lets. The rubber pad is needed when you do the embossing part of the Spellbinder die cuts.

I was wondering why the C plate suddenly disappeared. I thought they were just saving money.

I bought the bug because it could do all the dies. I have less CB dies than other brands because their dies, while most cut well (I have some that seem to have worn out or bent), aren't shapes I can use.

Well PC, I don't think I can replace a Cuttlebug with another unless the price of the bug and C plate is competetive with another machine that can do it all.

I'm a big Cuttlebug fan. I got mine 5 years ago at Michaels with a 50% off coupon. Best investment ever. I use it on nearly every card I make. It's small, lightweight and still works as well as the day I took it out of the box.

Since mine is old, it did come with a C plate. But I finally decided to get a new plate after cutting hundreds and hundreds of die cuts on the original one. It didn't occur to me at first to place the dies so they cut into the B plate instead, since they are easier to find and replace. My original C plate is still usable, but really marred up. I saved it for a back up.

This is unreal! Most brands now tout the universal aspect of their machine.

I know when I got my first Wizard, it was because I had a red sizzix, one of those pliers thing from Quikuts, and something else from a company I can't even remember. If I was doing one or two from a company I used my wizard. If I was doing 30, I'd use the "right" machine -- it was just quicker.

I resisted the Big Shot/Kick until SU started selling it. I only made the purchase because it came with everything to do everybody's dies. Having the bigger platform made it desirable, too. If I had to buy something extra to use my current stash, I'd be annoyed!

I can not find the extended plates on Joanns. What should I be searching for?
I never did but Tim Holts extended dies, maybe I will.

I just looked @ Joanns again and found the extended plates. My 40% @ Michaels will give me the same pricing and I do not have to pay postage. Thanks

Lucky you! My Michael's stores don't have them. If you purchase the A, C & B extended plates the shipping is free: PIA212 for $35+

DH was just asking if the price on the CB is $10 or so less expensive now that they have cut their costs by taking the C plate out? hahahaah!

That's a good one! You'd think it would be, but we all know that didn't happen. That makes me sad as I love my Bug and use it more than anything else and everyone is right- the dies they have just aren't that great. I own one set and have never even used them while my Nesties see lots of love. Guess when it ever dies it will be the Big Shot for me.

Default Replacement

The new blue cuttlebug comes with the rubber mat, which is supposed to replace/substitute for the C plate (esp. in the case of the thin dies)

I know this is an old thread but.........Though I do have a C plate, I find with Anna Griffin dies you cannot use the c plate. Also someone said if you just incorporate an embossing folder into your sandwich you should be able to use any company's dies.
