hi
Hi, my name is Sallee and I am live in sunny Queensland, Australia.
I am new to card making and hope to find some new ideas. I help teach a group each Monday.
Right now I am thinking of buying a cuttlebug, but when I enquired at Lincraft today, I was told they are discontinued, and I have been trying to find out if this is true. If anybody knows if they will be discontinued, please let me know.

Hi Sallee and welcome from across the ditch! This is a great place for inspiration and ideas so have fun exploring the forum. It is news to me that cuttlebugs have been discontinued but maybe someone else will know for sure.

Thank you Stephanie, I have been googling for information all afternoon. I did see that these rumours happen often.

Thank you Lyndia, I will call if I need help. I am interested in stamping, have a lot of stamps and inks. I need more practice, I think.

Practice is always good! When I started stamping I got card-making books from the library and they had lots of good tips about stamping.

I have a lot of great stamping tips bookmarks, still I find that on a practice piece, all goes well, but on the actual card, it is not so good. I use the same paper for practice.
I have been shown how to ink the stamps, but still get it wrong.
Practice is what is needed, I know.
Candida,
Thank you for your welcome.

One thing I find helpful is to start two or even three identical cards and take the best one through to completion. This way you don't get tied up with the 'this is it' moment of the final stamping. Be prepared to go through a certain amount of even good cardstock and you will relax and find that the final stamping will be as good as the practice ones.

Stephanie,
Thank you for that advice. I was also thinking stamping onto scrap card,,then cutting it out in a square or oval etc, and placing it on the card with double sided tape, just until I get better at stamping.
this weekend is Easter holidays, so I will have some practice time.

I also stamp onto scrap card and cut it out. It can acutally look better, a bit more finished somehow, than stamping straight onto the card blank, which can be very scary! You also have the choice of backing the stamped panel with another colour to give a border or mounting the white stamped panel onto coloured card stock which can also look very cool.

Yes, I like to have a border, and even raise it off the card with the raised little squares, can't think of their name.

They are foam mounts or dimensional mounts. Yes, they can add a bit of class to a plain stamped image and I do that too.

We call them foam mounts, I couldn't think of the name then, had to buy some yesterday.
Going to start stamping, get in some practice.

Hi Sallee,
I think they mean discontinued from their store. I'm also an Aussie (now living in Perth, but 'home' is actually Coffs Harbour). I just love my Cuttlebug

Yes, on thinking about it, I think you are right. Discontinued from their stores.
Spotlight has the bigshot on special at a very good price. It takes cuttlebug and spellbinders folders etc, but is a bit heavier.
The person I spoke to at Spotlight, by phone, seemed to be more helpful than the person I spoke to face to face at Lincraft. Sad thing is, I have a $50.00 gift card Christmas gift for Lincraft. They have ezy cut and bigshot, $70.00 dearer than Spotlight.
Perth is a beautiful city.
