IC17 - The Text Around You (Inspiration Challenge)
HAPPYAPRILFOOLSDAY
Check out post #7 for the *real* challenge
Inspiration Challenge #17 (Don't forget to add IC17 to your keywords please!)
Today's inspiration comes from abstract art (Enigmas Of Being by Sharon Glee).
Feel free to translate the inspiration item into a card, a scrapbook page, or another project. Be inspired by the colors, layout, theme, or anything else -- this is up to your own interpretation!
Here is my card.
This one really sparked me, I just saw so much life in it, so I went with bright colors (I love rainbows) and did butterflies because I love their transformation.
WOW - I can't believe that I'm the first one here today -- where are those stalkers anyway! Karen great inspiration today -- have my style show today but I am planning on catching up this evening! Thanks this looks like a fun one -- my mind is already racing!
Good morning! Karen, doesn't it feel great to be stalked???
Saturday is the only day of the week that I can actually sleep a little later. Cool challenge - I'm guessing the interpretations of this one will be completely different from one another. I also have a few others I need to catch up on. Maybe I can do that today.
Wow! This'll be a challenge for me! I'll have to stare at it a long time and see what I can see. DH has all sorts of interesting plans for today (moving a tree) so I'll try to get to it tonight. Thanks Karen!

Ok, Ok, I can't let it go any longer.... HAPPYAPRILFOOLSDAY
I know, I know...twas a bit lame, but I just couldn't pass up an opportunity! I am so lucky though to have so many people willing to try anything! Thanks for the indulgence...and if you get a card done based on the abstract art, please share it!!
So, your real inspiration challenge is to be inspired by the text around you -- specifically, your rank titles (you know, those cute little labels under your screen name).
You may be as creative as you wish...there are some titles that give lots of room for interpretation (Stampin' Fool). If you don't have anything that will work or have a title that doesn't make sense (like Mad Swapper) - then improvise, fake it, or pick a different title out of the list! Just have fun!!

Ya know!!!! I was wondering if you were spoofing us!!!! Great job! If I didn't have a little 5 year old person who came home from school yesterday "April Foolin" me every 2 sec.!!!! then I might not have caught it as an April Fool joke....would have thought my brain just didn't work this morning! Thanks for the smile!!! btw- great idea for a challenge.
Phew! Thanks Karen! I was thinkin I'd be staring at that piece a loooong time to try to figure out something. I was kinda thinkin it was similar to the all white challenge yesterday!
Actually, I'm thinking I can do something with that other one -- think foggy -- vellum overlay! That might be less work than digging out my sizzix for some die cuts. Might have to do both.
I need to run to the post office & bank this morning before I can stamp.
Oh no --I'm an insame embellisher, What does that mean besides I'm crazy?? Okay I'm thinking ribbon, hardware, and other additions to just a plain stamped image, Oh I long for the padded cell and straight jacket. Maybe if I post another couple of hundred messages real fast I can move up through the ranks.
Awe, I'd like to play but I don't have any Polyshrink ... as a matter of fact I didn't even know what it was till today. Well, I knew the product, but not the name...oh well!
OK now THIS sounds like more fun!!! I guess I better pull out the HH and USE it since I'm supposed to be a Hardware Hotshot (should be Hardware Hoarder ;))

I'm glad I was able to fool a couple of you...I was having fun all week trying to find a piece of art with just one color and no shape...I do apologize to Sharon Glee, the artist of my joke piece...hopefully she has a sense of humor!
I can't wait to see what you gals come up with. If you don't have something, improvise! Heather -- maybe you could do something with an acrylic piece (if you scrapbook, you probably have some) -- or cut up a stamp holder box (I know, horrible idea for those that store stamps in them)...get your thinking cap on ! Rhonda - love the idea of corrugated cardboard!
OK, Karen, there must have been some ESP going on here. I posted this Fri. under the WT challenge, but it also fits here as it's "nuttin' but embellishments", so I'll take a double whammie as the "Insane embellisher" on this one. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Oh, very funny! But I like the real challege. I'll have to find some time to play...oh, and I guess I should see what I am now! LOL!
Woo-hoo! Crimping Master. Great! I can use my favorite technique--crimping my CS both ways until it's like a piece of textured scrapbook paper. And distressed, too. I love distressing...

Thanks! It is hard to come up with the challenge and participate in all the other challenges...I've only just started getting back to the other challenges, but they are always so fun!
And, Beth, it looks like you need to make a new card for this challenge ;)

Heather, another possibility -- There is a lot of packaging that will shrink just like the polyshrink sheets do. You might have to do a test on a small piece. Just zap it good with your heat gun. Some of the covers for plastic containers, toy packaging with windows, etc. I'm not sure which ones are shrinkable, but I know that some do.
OK...Im totally stumped as to what I can make for "Gallery Gazer"!! I'll have to let this one simmer awhile and think about it! Anyone wanna throw out some ideas for me??

You could pretend it's "gallery glazer" and use some glassy glaze(crystal effects)!

Sounds like you need to CASE some of those cards you've been gazing at.
OK - I'm an Insane Embellisher....taht was togh for me. This card is for a 3 year old boys birthday. That let out any "girly" embellishments. This is what I came up with:
Okay Karen, that wasn't funny this morning. I was one of the first to see this and had an idea right away. And wouldn't you know I'd go do a card just to come back here and find it's a joke. But is wasn't a joke, I was inspired by the photo and did a card and now you have to look at and make lots and lots and lots of comments! It has no words on it but you all just pretend I used StazOn in place of the embossing powder! I was inspired to do polished stone from that dumb photo and the whole time thinking - how did Karen get inspired to do her card from that photo!
I came back to edit and say KAREN IS A BIG MEANYPANTS!
The card is further down on the thread, it had to be uploaded again.

Well, I hope you don't hate me too much I was hoping that people would look at my sample and the words I used to say how I was inspired and scratch their head and think I was nuts.
Rox - Your card really is awesome! I love the polished stone and your embossing, um, I mean Stazon.
Karen, you're the second person that got me today but I didn't put any work into the first gotcha! This one was better because I haven't stopped laughing since I posted!
I almost used StazOn too!
Never could hate you silly girl! This morning when I saw the art piece I thought I'm gonna have to think on this abit, then I saw you came up with something so I knew it had to be workable. All day I have been thinking what could I make from that and I didn't want to hurt your feelings by saying " Wow, I don't get this one " LOL and then..........you end up getting all of us, too funny. But I do have patterned paper for the art piece and I have been posting like mad to get rid of that Die Cut Diva, Yuck!! But I am what I am so a diecutting I go.......

You gals are so funny! Well here's mine. I am by no means a Pearl-Expert. As a matter of fact there is more Pearlex on me and my floor than my card (and you'll see that's a lot cuz I used it everywhere on my card). Better go get the vacuum before DH returns from Home Depot.
Okay, now I do feel insane--I got carried away. Started with a wheelbarrow full of Easter Eggs, then added a background made with shaving cream technique, then ribbon and a heading on vellum, then charms then. . .
Oh my gosh it was getting way too busy so I stopped. What a fun challenge this was.
Well, like Rox, I WAS inspired by that artwork. I looked at your card, Karen, & was a bit confused as to how you came up with that from the art, but it was still early & I hadn't had my coffee yet, so my brain was really foggy (like the art). Anyway, I did faux mother of pearl on mine. This card will be going out to someone very special on this site (hint - he's turning 40!)
