I was filming an upcoming Splitcoast tutorial this week and I stumbled on a happy little accident. While I was cleaning my brayer, I found that if I had some black paint on my brayer, when I cleaned it on cardstock, I got these fun, little abstract landscapes - they have sort of a Japanese feel to them.
Many of them looked like misty seascapes or misty mountains - it was really fun!
Since it's MIXED media, in addition to the black paint, you have to add a second medium - watercolor, spritzes, etc. to embellish your landscape. For mine, I chose a less is more approach because I really liked the accidental abstract scene.
Note - I liked the charcoal-ish look of the black, but if you want to use a different color of acrylic paint, feel free!
Here's a quick video showing you how I do this technique and a little bit about how to set up your workspace to make it easier.
Remember, our goal is to make mixed media easy and FUN so just play! Can't wait to see what you do.
Bumping this so it's easier to spot! (it's posted with a date of 17th Feb so it's not up top of the list)
Beautiful effect Lydia, love the one with the tree especially (probably because I kept mntally adding bare tree shapes to your prints as I was watching the video before I looked at the samples!).
This is so totally cool! I bet we all see things in clouds, too, that no one else ever sees. Today is crop day, I should have lots of fun with this and amaze everyone else, he-he!

I love how crafters think! "I can get behind this kind of cleaning!" hahaha
The title of the challenge made me think of this LOTR song I've made brayer-cleanoff bg's before but these are truly amazing!

They are, right?
I usually clean my brayer off on the grid paper. I'll have to start cleaning it off on nice cardstock.

Lydia, your scenes are all lovely. I especially like the one with the yellow boat. I have a bunch of papers like this in other colors, but love the black. I can't wait to see the video you were preparing, because I just got my Gelli Print Plate! . I hope to do this challenge this week-end. Than you!
I used gold paint and a brayer to create a bg - it makes such a great shimmer which you can't see in the photo! A fun technique - also used the paint that was spread out on the card to press my bg stamp into and stamp with for another layer. GOLD MIST
i'm excited to do this one - need to head to work now though. How about a gelli plate print challenge? (I think there are other ways to do gelli printing if one doesn't have a plate) THANKS FOR ALL YOU GUYS DO! Lela

You are correct, Serenity Stamper! I did a tutorial here and another for ODBD using a piece of picture glass. It's called mono printing.

Thanks for the challenge Lydia...I'm snowbound (10" last night on top of the 2 feet (??) we already had)..so I'm having fun and playing with my stamps! Here's my card...hmm all this stamping is making me hunger...good thing my pantry is stocked ;)
THANKS Lydia for hosting this spectacular challenge!!! I played all morning long and had a BLAST! I think I have about 30 sheets by now ... so hard to stop! Love your technique!
I have another card almost done but I don't think I have time to finish it today, but this one is done though it was tough getting a snapshot.

Lydia, I haven't been playing in the challenges for a while but I gotta say that this one really caught my eye. The samples are extraordinary. Now I want to try this. Time for a glass of wine as I dust off my brayer and find some paint. Could be fun!
I came. I saw. I conquered! omg did I ever waste alot of white cardstock on this, lol! But I really did love this challenge and was determined to not let it beat me! here is my final results:

What a crazy winter we've had! Yesterday we had higher temps and rain on top of our 2 feet of snow so we've had slushy flooded roads (along with a flooded garage to contend with) that have now frozen again. Glad you're stocked up and able to stamp away!

I have three. My pictures are poor.. Our weather has been so over cast it really does not help to even take them outside.. I do have to admit my photography is very something that I should improve...... Hope you enjoy..... Love what everybody has done..
