Hello and welcome to the Mix-Ability challenge here on Splitcoast! Our goal is to make mixed media, easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it!
If you want to start these challenges in the pages of an art journal, instead of a card, or on scrapbook pages, or on 3D items - please know - ANYTHING is welcome! We want you to learn and enjoy!
My challenge this week is SUPER fun, sorta messy (or a lot depending on how tidy you are), and extremely simple! Create some amazing texture using modeling paste, gel medium, or glass bead gel through stencils or die-cut negatives! If you don't have these items on-hand, feel free to incorporate texture in any way you desire!
Here's my sample:
Here's a video I made for you:

I actually started out by using acrylic paste and microbeads with a stencil, but it's still drying, LOL, and anyway it turned out not to be quite the right colour to work with the butterfly. I'll turn it into something over the weekend, maybe.
I still remember when Winsor & Newton first brought out their textured pastes - the glass bead one was my favourite. They had handmade samples to display to show the effects, and the bead one was a gorgeous blue that made me think of the seaside.
Here's mine. I love love love playing with modeling paste. You can mix colors into it (mine uses Dylusions sprays mixed in), and then apply it. Thanks Tiff! Even if I was a week early with my project. LOL
