Heart TLC464 ~ Sew What? It's the Real Thing! ~ {1/13/14}

TLC464 ~ Sew What? It's the Real Thing! ~ {1/13/14}

Lori has written a beautiful tutorial on Sewing on Cards. That is our Technique Challenge this week! Easy for some, and a daunting task for others! THIS IS THE REAL THING! Faux stitching is not for this challenge! You can machine sew or hand sew, but stitch you must!

Please be inspired to make a new card for this challenge.

See Lori's tutorial HERE.

Right up my street, Judy. But I've woken up with a headcold so I'm not sure what will happen after work today - it might just be bed :-(.
What a gorgeous sample - thanks for putting a big smile on my face.

Heart TLC464 Snowman Thanks

Got my Unity stamps in the mail saturday- from the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge 2013- isn't he the cutest little snowman? I used red stitching to emphasize the heart he is carrying. There's a distressed and embossed border to contrast with the red and white striped ribbon border. Here's Snowman Thanks

I did use REAL sewing and hope it's OK that I still used a faux stitched rectangle die with it. Here's MY CARD.

Default I figured out how to use the discs!

Such a great challenge! I've never stitched a card before, and this is my second challenge ever. It made me read the manual of my beloved 40 year old Elna machine which I inherited from my mom 20 years ago. Every time I use it, it brings back wonderful memories of mom. Today I learned how to use the cool little discs that came with it. WOW! I've never used anything but straight and zig zag, and only on fabric. This is going to open a world a possibilities!

I am continuing in my resolution to try to do challenges - my second one in 2 weeks - it sure is fun! Thanks for organizing and for teaching me new stuff!!

Here's my card

Here's a picture of what I use for threading smaller holes like today's card with sewing. It is what kids with braces use to floss their teeth. You can buy it in the toothpaste aisle.

I used stitching on my TPT card - even if all the careful tiny hand-stitching that went towards making little tutus didn't work out and never made it to the finished card, I still stitched the base ;-).

Late to the party. Here's my story: I refuse to use my real sewing machine to stitch paper. After all, paper is a wood by-product and messes up needles/cutters. I'm also a quilter, and I keep my two craft passions strictly separate. I finally found a way around the "no stamped or hand-drawn stitches" restriction by piercing a circle and using a beading needle to do a running stitch in the sketch. Here 'tis:
