Default Traditional Scrapbookers (as in not Project Life)

Traditional scrapbookers....please tell me I'm not alone! It seems like everyone is doing project life these days. I am not interested in that style right now. It's lovely, it's great memory keeping, etc....its just not for me. And I'm feeling lonely! Any other traditional scrapbookers?

Me! While I have bought some small journal cards from Smash and Simple Stories, it's just to make me journal on each page. I haven't gotten into Project Life. I do, however, have some divided photo pages from WRMK that I've had for years.

I did a project life one year. That was enough for me. I loved doing and have the 70th year of my life totally photographed and documented. Now I'm on the traditional scrapbooking and enjoying it.

You are not alone - although I now do a blended style of traditional. I scrap 12 x 12 pages (ie title pages, chapter pages, pages with large photos) but intersperse them with divided protectors into which I fit extra photos, journaling, and even embellishments or memorabilia from the same "event" or topic.

You are not alone! I'm a traditional scrapbooker too. I started thinking I was the only one.

I am a traditional scrapper...just uploaded a page to the gallery! I tried PL last year and only lasted two weeks before I got bored with it. I will probably do some pocket pages within Disney albums since I have 3 trips to scrap (and a 4th trip planned) and have tons of photos so I'd like to consolidate them a little bit.

It's really nice to know I'm not alone. Some of my favorite blogs have just switched over to PL and I was feeling a bit on the "outs". I still really enjoy the blank canvas that is a 12 by 12 page!

No project life or any of the knock-offs for me! I like big, wide open pages to put large photos with room for stamping and other techniques. I can see the appeal of faster pages, feeling less behind, but too many pages end up looking the same and too many photos get cropped. JMHO

I still do traditional pages. I do use PL style embellishments and cards on my pages...they make great journaling spots and titles! You are definitely not alone. And what I have noticed that PL and the other brands of pocket scrapbooking gets more elaborate each season...so people start out simply doing pockets then want to get creative so the lines add more embellishments and crafty stuff and soon we are back to full page scrapbooking all over again. I think it is cyclical. Many people get into project life and end up wanting to get more creative and do more.

I still do pages but also add extra photos and extras with the divided page protectors. It makes my regular layouts way more fun when I'm looking at a giant stack of photos and think I have to scrap them all I freak out. But being able to do a few special pages and move on to the next event is so much more enjoyable for me.

You are definitely not alone. While I have purchased the project life stuff I have yet to get it going and even then I am not going to do a day picture. I truly miss my CM days with my demo and all the girls. I did so much work. I am only a few years behind right now but with the kids grown and not as many pictures (20 taken last year only and 12 of them are birds at the feeder, lol) I am not feeling the scrapbook urge.

I'm a traditional scrapbooker, but haven't scrapbooked in several years due to my crazy schedule.

A friend bought me a Simple Stories album for Christmas, and I've bought some PL type stuff, but I have to admit--the simplified scrapbooking seems more overwhelming to me.

I'm a former CM demonstrator, so I've always done clean and simple pages, but man oh man, some layouts are more embellishments than photos. I miss not having the time to get my photos in albums right now.

Once I finish a major deadline, I need to take a week and get photos organized so I can get them in albums, either traditionally or pocket style.

I'm still a traditional scrapper and was starting to feel "alone" also. I do have pocket pages mixed in with my traditional albums, mostly vacation photos. So happy to not be "lonely" anymore

So did anyone have time to scrap over the weekend? I had the time, but had my nose stuck in a good book!

Not yet, but hopefully this weekend. I've been having a lack of creativity and have wasted time trying to inspired by everything on the internet

I have a hard time balancing writing with scrapping. I am working on a novel. But I have been working on an 8x8 mini album and I have been trying to do 4 pages a day. The design is simple so it is doable.

I have enjoyed doing some Project Life pages for some things- like old pictures I wanted preserved but didn't want to spend a lot of time on. Did a Heritage album that I'm very happy with.

I really like the "cut and paste" aspect of traditional scrapbooking, and I don't see that changing for me. I like the creative aspect. (I also have waaaaaay too much in my "stash" to use up!) I do see using PL for some things, though. I need to scrapbook a trip we took to New Orleans. I always take LOTS of pictures, so I can see mixing traditional as well as PL, so that it doesn't take quite as much time.

I have thought about doing a PL, does that count?? I'm a traditional scrapper all the way. A bit more than cut and paste with my layouts....but no digital (yet) for me! Like others, I have stash to use up!!

So glad that there are others :-) Like Sharon, I also have a large stash to use up. I do add lots of stamps/stencils and other "grungy" elements. I buy some new items here and there so I don't feel like I'm missing out on the latest and greatest :-)

I sat down today for the first time in ages to get some pages done. I was ready to do something with a certain stamp set, which for some reason I can't find. Doesn't matter how much other stuff I could use- I wanted those stamps. Guess I'll get some other pictures out!

I am a "traditional" scrapper, but I have begun to incorporate Project Life type multi-pocket page protectors for events that have lots of photos that I want to include, but don't want to dedicate many, many pages in my album to.

I often get sensory overload when I look at some Project Life pages...too much stuff for my brain to process and fully appreciate! LOL

Another traditional scrapper here - I love the tactile and create nature of good old cutting and pasting! Like others, I have incorporated some Project Life and Simple Stories elements, but they are embellishments, not the focus. Also, I too have added some pocket style pages to my traditional albums for those times when I have so many pictures, don't want to scrap them all, but want them readily available for viewing - for example, my husband took hundreds of pictures of my son's championship football game, and it was so difficult to cull them down, that I ended up doing 4 traditional pages, then two pages of pocket styles.

This discussion is similar to the one regarding going digital - some have fully embraced the digital world, some are still old school (like me), and some have adopted a hybrid style - incorporating both into their albums.

I am a total Project life Addict, but I can't step away from the 12x12. That was what made me fall in love with scrapbooking. I do a Project Life for every day and then I scrap all the other million pictures I took as well. I am a basic Project Lifer though, I only use the core kits and nothing else. I go crazy on my layouts.

I was just able to put together a few 12x12 traditional pages. Ahhh did it feel good. It just gives me a greater sense of accomplishment than the few PL ones I tried.

You are NOT alone! I am a traditional 12 x 12 paper scrapbooker. Not Project Life, not digital scrapbooking. I love the process and that's the appeal for me. Nothing wrong with other forms of scrapbooking. It's just not me. I've been super sad that SU has pared down it's traditional scrapbooking lines. I loved their albums and page protectors more than any others I have ever found, so I was very sad to see them go.

Guess I'm out of the loop....not sure what project life is....but I'm traditional all the way!!!! Love the cut and paste feel on a 12 x 12 piece of paper! Was super sad when cm changed their whole way of thinking.....tried to purchase enough pages/protectors to finish my last sons high school books$$$$$$$$. After that..will have to find a new book and page supplier....will probably go with hobby lobby albums. Gotta luv me some stickers and paper!

Made me chuckle...I've heard of if but don't know exactly what it is either.

I've started with traditional scrapping and unless I'm copying (or scraplifting) someone else's ideas, mine has always looked like a 5 year old's artwork :( so I moved on to digital scrapping and found my calling! Certainly less messy and I can make changes to my heart's delight without ruining anything.

Unfortunately, I've bought so many supplies before I found the digi world that it'll take me years of card making to use them up now! Everyone finds their own nitch and I envy all of you traditional scrappers because you are truly creative!

Don't discount yourself or think that your work is less than what a paper scrapper does. It takes a lot of knowledge of software and talent to make a good digital layout! Just because you use a different medium doesn't make digital scrapbooking less!

I'm a TRADITIONAL scrapbooker!!!!!! I do 12x12 with paper, ribbons, and everything else very real! I just finished my 10th album and my 300th page. Yes, 300! No one but traditional scrapbookers will know what that means and how hard we work to get there!

I went to a crop on Monday for the first time in ages. It was so nice to chat, crop, snack, and actually have a stack of pages either done or in progress at the end of the day. Can't wait to do it again and finish a book!
