I'm sad about this. I don't live anywhere near an Archiver's store, but attended ScrapFest for the first time and had so much fun. Was saving my money to go again this year.
I'm so sad. We have lost all of our local stamp stores, and Archivers was the closest thing to it - they have many things that places like Michaels, etc., don't.
Makes me so sad. :( I was worried this was coming, so spent my gift certificates last month. I think it is super nice that they are giving their employees and customers a heads up before closing.
The letter linked to says that Archiver's is going out of business and in the second paragraph, it says, "As a result, we will be closing all of our stores by mid-February."
Please Read the article, it says "We are very sad to announce that Archivers is going out of buisness"
That means the Whole Company. :(

It looks like I will be doing the majority of my shopping now online. Like Paige, attended Scrapfest for the 1st time last fall and was so looking forward to the next, along with rositagustfson71 and Lazorkay that were also going to be joining the fun. The store here in Maple Grove just finished a reconstruction of their Memory Lab. I did overhear when I was last in the store someone trying to purchase a gift card and was told they were no longer available.
Yes it does Suck!!!!!! I live near one. And I go just about every other month to classes and workshops. I know the store where I go has been busy....So I don't understand why they are closing all of the stores.
It's been GREAT having them around. But Now I am SAD to hear they are closing. :( :( :( :( :(
Leslie, The way it sounds all of the store's are closing. I wish it wasn't true!
Yes I KNOW, did I not explain that clearly I was trying to explain it to the person I quoted because she did not understand.
I understand just fine. I received their Facebook notice and shared it ;)

Sad news. I just booked seats for this Saturday's scrap mania. Love getting away from kids & housework to be crafty for a day. Think this is a push to check into a LSS I've been trying to visit!
We don't have their store in our state, nor a neighboring one. However, it's always sad to hear of another crafting/stamping store closing. Losing our LSSs has a tremendous impact on the industry and our crafting.
I know I for one have cut back somewhat on my spending, only because I have SO much and am running out of room to put it. Using it isn't happening as fast as I would like!!!!
I, too, am very sad about Archiver's closing but really wasn't surprised. The writing was on the wall. They were sending out WAY too many coupons and deals TOO late. Unfortunately the scrap booking phase is declining and they waiting too long to adapt to the changes in the industry. Michaels and Joannes (and Hobby Lobby) should be fine since they cater to a lot of different crafts. Archivers became more and more scrapbooking specific (cutting back on stamps and stamping specific items).
I know they are selling off some of the store supplies and open box type items. I wonder if it is worth going to check out? Has anybody been to their Archiver's since the announcement? I am really bummed to hear about them closing. I loved our Archiver's and spent way too much there!
The FAQ section of their message states (several times, I believe) that it's probably best to contact individual stores for specific questions. I wonder if the prices are going to go down incrementally as they try to empty out the stores. If I lived closer, I would probably be in there right now claiming various store fixtures. I'm sure there are some display items that I will wish I had down the road.
I did get a nice, comfy chair for my scrapbooking room. The one I have now is ancient and is starting to come apart. They told me starting Sunday things would go on sale.
I was there today. Some of the display fixtures already had sold signs on them. At the front of the store they had bins with all the punches/ tools that were used for classes for sale. But no "mark downs" yet.

yep. this was the case at the one in Middleton WI.
I got two of the half-size 12X12 wire paper racks for $30 each. None of the stuff was on sale though - and none of their punches/tools were left.
The two girls in front of me spent over $200 though - a piece on full price items.
Visited the Maple Grove, MN one yesterday. They were BUSY! Nothing marked down yet. Some fixtures and SOLD on them. Hope they post their markdown schedule. It's about 30 minutes away, and at 15 below as the high for the next few days, it will take a lot to get me out the door to shop!
I agree. I don't want their used stuff, and selling their used ink pads? For $3? No thank you.
I actually got a few cool things even though most of it was gone by the time I got there. I should have gone the day they sent out the email. My daughter just went away to school, and she always used my scrapbooking/cardmaking stuff, so I got several things to send her--circle and border punches for $1.99 each that are usually $10 to $15, and she likes my WeRMemorysomething boxmaker thingy that is usually $19.99, but I got one for $4, etc. They said they had a lot of different gadgets and things, but they went the first day.
I guess if you use the logic that those who live closer have been able to support them more, then it's a nice thing that they will be the ones most likely to benefit from the great bargains that get swept up fast. Kind of a bummer for those of us who have to plan a trip there - with this weather, I'm not even sure I'll get down to a store before they all close.
Those sound like great deals on the punches and WRMK punch board.
I saw on Facebook that they are sending out an important email tomorrow - maybe it will have more details on the closing process and sales schedule.
I plan on going to the Roseville, MN Archiver's location later today in spite of our sub zero temps! Hubby has to go out anyway so his truck will be nice and warm....
We are having record setting cold temps here in Minnesota today. Governor closed all of the public schools for today and even some grocery stores have closed.
I am an Archivers employee. Per the bankruptcy judge stores can only have 2 people per shift working (well at least my store in KC, MO), so I am going in today to volunteer my time and help out, it's the least I can do for our stores loyal customers.

That is very nice of you to do!
I just wish the sale did not start today. With the 15 inches of snow we had this weekend in Illinois, hubby said the roads are still bad. Kids are home from school and it just hit -26 with the wind chill. I don't think I am going any where today but the kitchen :p
