Hello everyone and welcome to the first TLC challenge in 2014!!! I was going to revisit an old technique but I found the coolest flower out there in blog land that was made with hexagon pieces. Well, wouldnt you know...I dont own a hexagon die so I made a flower with a 1 3/8" round punch and it worked just fine!!! So, this weeks challenge to you is to make a Circle Flower!!! If you own a hexagon die and want to use it for todays challenge, please do so.
Here are the deets:
1. Punch out 7 or 8 circles from patterned paper or card stock depending on the size of round punch or die you use.
2. Punch or cutout a 1 -2" circle from card stock for the backing.
3. Divide the circle into thirds around the edges by placing a mark lightly with a pencil
4. Fold in two of the sides using your pencil points as a guide to create a V shape
5. Place the petals around the edge of the larger base circle to create your flower. Play with placement of the pieces before you glue them down. I used double sided tape so I could move the pieces around a bit
6. You will have to adjust some of the folds so the background base circle doesnt show.
7. Add a button, pearl, or other embellishment to the center.
I uploaded a picture tutorial to go along with the above details....you can find it here.
Oh Joan, this looks so pretty! I can't wait to try it in the morning!!! Thanks so much!!!

Joan- awesome challenge! I used a floral card, a baby card, and a button, die cut with my SU XL scallop circle punch. Center was a dc button, with a real button glued on top. Here's Baby Blooms

Just had to do another one- found this cool brown cardstock with a flourish heat embossed in black, and added a moose, and dc butterfly, and snowflake, along with a circle flower. Here's Snowflake Moose

Thanks for the fun technique, Joan. Enjoyed it a lot. Lots of interruptions yesterday so didn't complete until today.

Here's my entry, Tea Party Circle Flower. I had fun making this card. Thanks for the tutorial, Joan; it made the technique easy to understand and fun to do!
This card is for my granddaughter's 14th birthday. I hope she likes it. I know she'll like the check that's inside!
Thanks for looking,

OK, so I made another Circle Flower card earlier today, and I used a big punch. The flower turned out OK, but after looking at the cards in the TLC gallery, I decided the smaller ones are really more attractive. I especially liked this card by bensarmom, and pretty much CASEd the layout. Sadly, I do not own a 1" circle punch (although I have a 1/2", 3/4", 1-3/8", 1-3/4"--you get the idea! So I used a 3/4" circle punch for this card, and I'm feeling like Goldilocks. My first card was too big, this one is too small--and when I get a 1" circle punch, the flower will be just right!
