Default TLC454 ~ Stamp on the Sticky Stuff ~ (11/04/13)

Hello everyone....I have been playing around with some Crystal Effects and came up with a fun challenge for this weeks Technique Lover's Challenge....it's called Stamp on the Sticky Stuff!!

Here are the deets:

For a background:
1. Use a brush or your finger to add just a drop or two of water to a quarter size amount of Crystal Effects/Glossy Accents/or even Elmer's Glue
2. Spread the *sticky stuff* on your cardstock and let dry just a little....it really needs to be a little wet to work but not soppy wet.
3.Use a dry background stamp (I used a retired Stampin Up! stamp called Weathered) and dry stamp on the slightly wet stick stuff (no ink). The stamp will indent into the sticky stuff and leave an image. (Clean the stamp right away!!)
4. Use a heat tool to completely dry the paper.
5. Now, use a damp cloth to pick up a little ink and rub over the paper and then wipe it off. (I used white ink on a dark blue background...my background now looks like frost).
6. You can use a darker ink for a distressed look or use the same color ink as the paper for a subtle change.
7. You can also try this over a stamped image or a colored image....you will have to experiment with different coloring mediums on scratch paper to make sure it doesn't run the colors.
8. I hope you can come play with us...I would love to see what your create!!!!

Joan, what a fun sounding technique! I'll try it in the morning. Thanks for all you do.

This was truly a challenge Joan. Here's my card . The white strip is the best image I could get. Thanks for helping my stretch in my techniques.

It will be later in the week before I can get to this but it sounds like fun. Since I know from bitter experience that distress inks run when you add Glossy Accents, I'm going to pass on that option ;-).
Thanks, Joan.

You are SO CREATIVE, Joan! At first, I thought I would skip this challenge, but it sounded so intriguing, that I decided to give it a try.....ready for a quick clean-up. ; ) Don't know if my results are what you had in mind, but I'm happy with my card and enjoyed making it with your new technique. Thanks.

Sallie, love your card! Question: Did you stamp the flower then cover it with the sticky?

Thanks Joan for one of the most interesting techniques I've ever done. It really makes for a pretty and very supple feel to a card. Here is my attempt at your technique.

Hi. I'd never done this before! It was fun and thanks for the challenge. The photo doesn't pick up the white paint I used over the glue too well but it shows IRL. Thanks!

Took me a few attempts to get something I was happy with and it was a hard one to photograph so you don't get to see all the coolness! Hope to take some more photos and put them on the blog.

TLC454 Vintage Sticky Fun
This was a LOT of fun and I'll definitely try it again with a more detailed stamp. I wanted to use an easy one for my first time round, LOL.
I sort of think it needs something under the flower but didn't want to cover up more of my background.

TLC454 - Present time
My sister tried this technique and gave up.
I tried it too, without a lot of luck. BUT I love the background it created - shiny in spots and rustic in others, and then I embossed it to use on my card. I think I will try the technique again - perhaps for an embellishment.
My daughter loves the card I have created, so I hope you do too! TFL :p
