I am trying to find glossy cardstock to do some brayering but I am having a really tough time trying to track some down. I believe that SU no longer sells it and I can only find glossy paper which I have my doubts whether it would work with layers and layers of ink. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a particular brand? I thought glossy cardstock would be easy to find with stampers creating their own background with alcohol inks and dye inks - I suppose I was wrong.......:(
Thanks for the link It is a little confusing in the glossy cardstock listing as it says cardstock but the picture says paper :confused: Have you used it and it is actually cardstock weight as I want it to be able to use it as a cardstock base?

It is cardstock weight, very much like the glossy that Stampin' Up! offered until recently. You should try some.

I have many packs of 4x6 glossy photo packs. Can those be used as glossy card stock? I'm thinking for card making backgrounds, etc.

Use one sheet and test different kinds of inks on it,
both direct to paper and stamped and see if you like the results.
Do not heat emboss, the surface will just bubble and ruin before the powder melts. Yes, I tried it.

It's not the same. The glossy cs has a clay coat, the photo paper is treated to accept printer ink. Some techniques will work but others turn into a sticky, goopy mess.

I thought I might be able to use glossy photo too thinking it would work just as well as my glossy cardstock - but I tried and trust me, it doesn't work at all as the photo paper sucks the ink off the brayer very quickly and you can't achieve a smooth gradient of colour even with a small piece of it.
I just ordered some Ranger glossy cardstock online so can't wait until it arrives!
Thanks for the manufacturer's name of Kromecoat. I had done an internet search but couldn't find Kromecoat so knowing the manufacturer's name is a fantastic help
I went to the Picture to Page Scrapbook Show last weekend and Bellbird Paper Arts (who are in Blackburn South about 25 mins from where I live) stock the Kromekote glossy cardstock. It was just sheer luck that whilst I was looking at other things at their booth, I came across a pack of Kromekote. I asked if it was good for brayering and they said it was fantastic. Where in Australia are you located (if you don't mind my asking - you could always send me a private message if preferable)? Bellbird Paper Arts are online but don't have an online store as such. Note: I haven't actually tried the Kromekote yet for my brayering. I also bought some Ranger glossy cardstock elsewhere so that I can try both and see which I prefer.

Photo paper works to an extent, but the best results are with Kromecote. I used to source it from Stamp It in Perth, but a phone call just now, has me looking for it elsewhere. I will be ringing Bellbird in a tick. If you find another supplier, please tell me. I will keep looking.
I purchased my A4 sized (metric) Kromekote from Bellbird Paper Arts here in Australia at a recent craft show - but they do stock it at their shop so you should be able to ring and ask them to post it out to you. I also picked up some Ranger glossy cardstock in 12" x 12" online from Stampin' Stuff (another Aussie store) - haven't had a chance to compare the 2 yet so don't know which I prefer. Yes Kromekote is a clay coated cardstock. I have been using it for years and love, love, love the stuff. I have it in both white and black. I get it from Marco's papers: Coated (Glossy) Cardstocks
Hey, thanks for that. Nice to have a company in the same city as me for a change ! Sometimes being in Australia can be frustrating because postage for heavy things like cardstock from overseas is incredibly expensive and mostly unaffordable.
I feel for you being in the country with no scrapbooking/cardmaking suppliers around. It's tough when you don't have alot of options other than online. Have sent you a PM
