Question How many embossing folders?

How many embossing folders do you have? Can a stamper have enough of these?

I try to keep it simple, so I have about 22 (and that's counting the little edge ones). Go ahead! Blow me away with your numbers.

Bev you had to go and make me count....Oh dear!! You don't realize what you have till you actually count. Thank goodness my husband doesn't subscribe to Splitcoaststampers.
Anyways I have 22 Stampin'Up and 15 from various others companies. Total: 37.

Don't go and ask me how many stamps....

Stand up Deblet and admit...''I am a stamp, scrap aholic''. Thanks for admitting to having so many, now I don't feel guilty at all.

Over 100; several different companies. I would hang my head in shame, but I'm actually proud -- and I know where each is. They are beautifully organized. Yea, me!

I just counted lol, I have 20 along with 3 of the little edge ones.

They're all Sizzix and Darice and I'm officially addicted! I came over to the dark side when I picked up a Texture Boutique cheap off craigslist and I've doubled my folder inventory just in the last couple weeks. They're so cool!

I'm with Deborah. I'm not counting. It's the makers fault-they keep making new 'must have' folders!!! I do use them so I don't feel bad having so many. I admit to having sort of duplicates-different orientation, different size impression, same name but different design a/c different company, etc.

Love them and will continue to buy! I admit, I'm incorrigible!!!!!

Oh my gosh, yes! But when I do buy a duplicate I usually hold onto it to gift it to someone. Sometimes I'll throw one in an ebay package as a random surprise

This thread is so amusing! Let's see: Couture Creations, Crafts-Too, Cuttlebug, Darice, Lifestyle Crafts, Sizzix, Spellbinders, Stampin Up and The Paper Studio are companies whose embossing folders I possess. Am I missing some companies - most likely yes! Do I actually have a clue to the number that I own- absolutely not! But I see this as a challenge so after I get done with this I am off to begin counting, and I expect that the results will be entertaining!

Ok, important question - HOW DO YOU HAVE THEM ORGANIZED????

I also have over 100, and I do know where they are, but I wouldn't call them organized. Every time I want one, I have to flip thru the whole stack of them, and I have a terrible time remembering what I have. I finally embossed a sample of each on a half-sheet of cardstock, but I can't figure out how to divide them into categories to make them easy to find.

I have mine in a small crate and according to company name who made them. (Cuttlebug, SU, Darice, Sizzix...) It still isn't easy to find them this way, though, so if anyone has a better way, I'm all for it!

My storage system depends on the size of the embossing folders. I have embossing folder storage binders which I purchased through Consumer Crafts. They go 9.97 which is half of the suggested retail price and they hold 40 standard efs. I purchased several binders when there was a deal on shipping, otherwise shipping larger items can cost. As for the larger Spellbiders M-bossibilities folders they are in a plastic shoe box. My smaller ef(2x2) are in zippered cd cases. Those I bought at Goodwill, I've found some great cheap storage solutions that way!

Here's my problem - I'm happy with how I have them stored. They're not difficult to flip thru, standing in their box, but I would LOVE to come up with some way to better categorize them to cut down on how much flipping I need to do :P

I do have them divided up somewhat - the borders that don't match to a specific folder are all together, my Anna Griffin folders are all together, the few seasonal ones I have are all together and the ones I use a lot are in the front (swiss dots, SU's square lattice, etc.) The problem with that is then I tend to use the "ones I use a lot" even more - because they're the first ones I see.

I divide mine up by patterns: circles, lines (with (handwriting and zig zags), rectangle/squares, animal, etc..

It makes sense to ME and that's all the crazy that matters, right?

I made a "journal" for the EFs. I made one of each EF out of 1/4 piece of c.s., numbered each EF and c.s. version, punched a large hole in the corner of each c.s. piece and put them on a ring. Now, when I want to emboss a specific pattern, I just find the piece on the ring, pull the EF with the same number and go for it.

Well I'm ashamed to say after reading all the posts above but I have 7! I just started using the folders and I am hooked so who knows where I'll be a year from now, lol.

Yikes. Just counted an even 100, not counting the small 4 per package ones, and all of the border folders. There are a handful I use the most, but I love them all!

Well, it certainly sounds logical to me! I think my problem has been trying to break them into categories that were too specific - and if there are only 3 folders in each category, and I have 30 categories; well, the categories don't really narrow things down very well, do they?

I'm going to give your system a whirl. Thanks for the idea!

I stopped counting at 299...SERIOUSLY!!! I'm a bit obsessive/excessive when it comes to EF's...
I have embossed every single one onto card stock which I then punched holes in and hung on metal rings. This is a good way to decide which folder I want to use without filing through 300+ folders.
I keep them sorted by brand and in baskets.

I think that I need to bow down to you- 300+ efs! Let's not forget the fact that you have embossed them all so you know what you have. Very organized!

To organize folders, I use the following catagories. Backgrounds, frames, borders and tags, holidays
Subcategories can be flowers, leaves, trees, dots, fabrics, swirls, words, etc. I use binder with pocket pages. Two to a page holds regular and oversized. Four horizontal to a page for borders and eight or nine to a page (baseball card pockets) holds the tag size.

I organize everything I own by three main subjects: calendar for holidays, themes, and color. This works for folders, dies, stamps, stencils, embellishments, ribbon, and paper.

I sample everything as I buy it and make a reference sheet. Using the sample book helps me decide what to pull out. Example, a template can help me decide the size I need for a punch or die rather than cluttering my work table with unneeded stuff. Then I put all needs in a project box or bin and work from there. It stays there until put away and saves losing it on a cluttered table.

When making a card, I need not look in more than three places to find anything.

I was sent here by Mollymoo...I will have to count later today...

Those who haven't counted...lots can mean 10...or it can mean 100...

I know I exceed 100...just never counted the different sizes!:p

Either you're all very brave to admit the quantities that you have, or ... well, nevermind! Thanks for your honesty! We're working on a product for embossing folders (hopefully in time for the holidays), and your input is awesome. Thanks! Keep it coming!

I've got 56 and I'm blaming SCS, since I never knew what an 'ef' was til' y'all started posting such beautiful work! I think we need to begin some type of support group...I'll start...Hi, my name is Carmen and I'm some type of 'aholic' and my workspace has become unmanageable.

Three years ago there were 15-20 embossing folders in the stamp room when my son Kub left for Texas...it took me about 9-12 months to adjust to the stamp room being MINE again...

I learned to enjoy embossing folders and then scraperwannabe informed me that brands other than Cuttlebug could be used in the machine...and well...that was like giving me permission to have multiple scoops of ice-cream on my cone!

I now have 104 "regular" size embossing folders, 13 larger ones, 36 borders, 11 corner type and 5 12' folders!

The brands that I have in alphabetical order...

Anna Griffin
Conture Creations
Craft Concepts
Cuttlebug
Darice
Leisure Style
mpress
Paper Studio
Provo Craft
Sizzix
Tim Holtz

How I store them will be in the next post!

Originally the 15-20 embossing folders were in a decorated tall tin...then that started to overflow and they were just in a pile on the table!

The boxes that Michaels sell for $1.66 on sale became the next place for them...

I tried to keep them somewhat in order by style...flowers, leaves, winter, words, dots, backgrounds that looked like a specific design, animals, birds...

I still keep them that way but now I have 2 boxes and I added dividers of cardstock (they still need titles on them)...and the borders and corners are kept in that original tin.

The 12" folders are on a counter space...

The boxes set on the 4 foot table with 2 Cuttlebugs, a basket of images and all the Spellbinders are in a CD holder place on magnetic sheets...those larger are in a box!

One duplicate (not counted in my total) because I am afraid I will bring the Swiss Dot of Cuttlebug and I would be a mess if that happened!!!!
