I just got my envelope punch board but I am having difficulty with the card sizes. I am trying to make an envelope for a card 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. When I use the paper size suggested on the board, I don't get the right size envelope. Any suggestions or have any of you had this problem? Thanks for your input.
There was a YouTube video, pointing out that the "cut-paper-to-this-size" dimensions given were incorrect, and to email the company. (Then the email address was incorrect.) All the paper dimensions, though, would make square envelopes, and most cards are rectangular, no? I'm flummoxed.

First, the SU Envelope Punch Board, and the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board are exactly the same board. The SU board is a different color, and has their own logo on it. Otherwise, the boards themselves are the same.
To make all the sizes of envelopes listed on the charts, you first start with a square piece of paper. Different size squares for different size envelopes. But when you put the paper on the board and punch and score it, you make the scores at different places, according to the measurements on the chart.
The envelopes themselves do not all turn out square, even though you start out with a square piece of paper for each size. The envelopes will be different sizes, listed on the chart, according to the size of your paper square and the measurements you use to make the scores. There are many rectangle sizes on the chart, and also some square sizes.
Take a look at this measurement chart and you will see all different sizes of envelopes listed, but each one starts out with a square piece of paper:
The trick, and where many people get confused. You only use the scoring measurement once, for your first score.
Then, you line up the thingie on the left side of where you press to punch with the previous score. And that's what gives you rectangular.
So - measure once, then work from the previous one.
Does that make any sense? (especially given my not-so-great nouns!)
As I have watched eager stampers try their turn .... that is the main flub-up point I've seen.

Good points, TexasGrammy. One of the first videos for the envelope punch had a gal who is very well known for reviewing new products. She was in such a hurry, and you could tell on the video she wasn't paying much attention to how she lined up her paper. Then the envies all turned out to be different sizes, and she blamed the board - not her slap-dash methods.
Remember, just because you are on Youtube, that doesn't necessarily mean you know what you are doing.
A tip I want to add about scoring with the envelope punch board that may be obvious, but maybe not. When you are using pattern paper with a white side, score on the white side, not the pattern side. It is not easy to see the score lines on patterns sometimes. It took me a couple to figure that out, lol.

Not to worry. It's a great little tool and I know you will love being able to make your own envies.
Sometimes when something is new, there is a lot of misinformation flying around the internet. Lots of times from people who haven't even tried the item they are complaining about, or they do have it, but aren't using it properly.

I got my punch board about two weeks ago, but I ordered it and was most excited about making the file folder cards I saw made by Patty Bennett in a video.
All I made for the first week was tab cards. When I finally tried an envelope, I flubbed it up! I kept using the 3 1/2" measurement to line up every side to score and punch! Seems like that is the common mistake.
As said above, you use the measurement for the first score and punch only. After that you use the pointer tab; I believe the directions on the board itself call it the scored GUIDE , to line up each of the next three sides for scoring and punching. Done this way the A2 size envelope comes out just fine.
Luckily, I practiced on scratch paper first before messing up on some paper I really liked!
