Default How to make file folders without the MM or SU punch boards

I just saw and saved the blog where the woman used either an embossing board or the embossing blade on her cutter, a craft knife, and a ruler. She showed how to make the three different tabs (left, middle, and right). The ruler was used with the craft knife to remove the excess cardstock to make the tabs.

Unfortunately, I managed to delete the folder where I had saved it. Can anyone find that blog? I've spent several hours doing a search on the internet trying to locate it and just can't find it. It seems as if it was linked on one of the MM punch board videos comment sections.

Thanks!

Here is a blog showing file folders made with the envelope punch board:

Paper Phenomenon: Making File Folders with the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board

Oops, I just now read that you wanted to make them WITHOUT the punch board. Haven't seen that anywhere. Sorry.

This isn't quite what I had seen. The folders had the tabs as part of them, not separate. I spent several more hours searching and still couldn't find it. I looked under YouTube in addition to the regular searches. I tried different titles, none of them came up as to how to make your own mini file folders with the three tabs using a scoreboard, craft knife, ruler, pencil, and corner rounder. There were several mini folder albums or resizing manilla folders, but not how to make your own from scratch using cardstock. There were a couple of videos using the Tim Holtz On the Edge die. Hmmmm...

Thanks for looking.

I really looked pretty hard, and I found nothing that was like you wanted.

There are quite a few about making the mini folders using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch though.

I think the OP wanted something that you didn't have to have the envelope punch board to make.

True... I was hoping to be able to do it myself without having to purchase another tool.

I spent some more hours today trying different search titles: How to make mini file folders, How to create mini file folders, Making mini file folders, Creating mini file folders, How to make cardstock mini file folders, How to create cardstock mini file folders, How to make 3 tabbed mini file folders, How to create 3 tabs mini file folders, How to make/create your own mini file folders... to no avail. I could understand not being able to locate the video/blog if it was 10 years ago, but I just saw it within the last week.

If worst comes to worse, I can cheat using regular manilla file folder for the tab design and tracing them onto a template and following the instructions on those other videos. Shoot, I even have a McGill tab punch (but that is adding onto instead of including in the design; adding onto makes it weaker and more susceptible to folding and tearing).

Grrrrrrrr... this really shouldn't have to have become a quest :(

Thanks again for trying Bugga and Falcons. I do appreciate it.

You are welcome. I understand getting obsessed with finding something that you KNOW you saw on the internet. I do it too.

I will keep an eye out in my travels on the web and be sure to bookmark it if I find it.

Hey, I just found this on Youtube. Check it out. Uses paper cutter, corner rounder and makes file folder cards:

I know! I downloaded the video when I saw the File Folder Card.

If it is any help, either in the video, the description or in the comments, there was a link to the woman's video that I'm searching for. And yes, I went back and viewed all the videos I could find regarding the making of the file folders. One thing that was mentioned was showing how to make one with two variations (the middle and right tabs).

One would think that there would have been a tutorial long ago about making one (without the aid of specialized tools such as the Time Holtz die or MM punch board).

Thanks again (and again and again) for trying to find it. Wouldn't you know that something relatively easy to do (and so recent) is proving so very difficult to locate?

At least all is not lost... I'm finding other types of cards that are shown in the right-hand column of YouTube (such as this Hot Cocoa Mug):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg_tlCcxv24

or the Blocks Card:
