We live in a rural area so anytime I need supplies it is at least a 45 minute drive to get them. This past weekend while on our way out of town we stopped at Joann Fabrics so I could pick up some tombow permanent adhesive refills. Much to my dismay they were out of the 3 packs ($12.99) and they only had a single refill which was $7.99! I just couldn't do it. I'll use glue stick or tacky glue before I pay that much for a single refill. How much are you willing to pay for mono-adhesive?
When I just want 1, I use my 40% off coupon at JA, HL, or M's, but now that the price has increased so much, I won't be doing that any more.
A friend buys them in bulk online and they end up costing just under $2 each. I don't know where she buys them from though. I need to find out and place my own order. I did a quick google search and found several places to buy them for less than $3 each.
I just searched further and found them at discountofficesupplies.com for $1.75 each. Shipping is free over $45, so if you buy 26, you get free shipping. I'm going to order some asap.

I agree, ordering in bulk is the way to go. Time to stock up.

I use tombow glue and always use a coupon for these purchases, including popdots, glitter and so on. Coupons always helps ;)

I get mine at PENWA. Sometimes a few friends and I will order together. I think my last order came to about $1.85 or $1.90 per refill. It even gets a little cheaper if you order in huge quantities, I think. There is free shipping, but I forget the exact amount to get that.
Hope that helps,
Chris

Thanks for the penwa heads up. I just got them for $1.75 each with free shipping (to USA/qty = 30 refills).
And I learned a lesson AFTER I placed the order. If I had clicked on the "View current promotions" button I would have gotten an additional 2% discount on the mono refills. They had a bunch of various promotions, so be sure to click that link LOLLLL

I don't think the original poster had a Michael's nearby.
No, I did not have the option of Michaels, because of where we were traveling. Normally I could go to Michaels or Joann and use a coupon. I am glad to know of all these other sources though and will definitely shop the best price next time I order.
Thanks everyone for all of your helpful suggestions.

Call their customer service. The gal is super nice and will probably give you the discount. I have gotten them as cheap as $1.49 from them but that is with a very large order with friends. Get on their mailing list and you get their promotions.

Good customer service is SOLID GOLD !! I opt for companies that value and respect their customers and that are there for their customers in 'good times and in bad', and especially in 'bad times' 'cuz that's when a company shows what they're REALLY made of and how much they REALLY value their customers

I get mine at acmoore and Michaels. They are $9.99 but I always use a coupon. Today's coupons were for 55% off. A Moore is also having sales of single refills at 2 for $5.
Props to Penwa. Got my refills today - excellent! Not sure yet if I'll email them for the 2% discount - it would amount to 3.5 cents/refill and I feel a little uncomfortable asking for it after-the-fact.
Thanks, again, for the heads-up about Penwa.
