Using negative of diecuts

I remember seeing a video in which the presenter (?maybe Julie Ebersole or Jennifer McQuire) used tape to remove the negative parts of a die cut and then applied these to another project. Does this ring any bells? Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Its probably the techinique where you use transfer tape (or sheets) to appy your diecuts. Its used a lot with vinyl wall art. You could probably use wide painters tape (I think the transfer tape is a little pricey).

I've seen similar done with the 'waste' bits from peel-offs. If you need a wide tape for die cuts, wider than normal low tack tape, you can take some of the stickiness from ordinary decorators or parcel tape by sticking it to your clothes & peeling off a couple of times. Though I have seen wide low tack decorators tape available now.

Did it involve one of the intricate Spellbinders' dies, where the woman cut out two of the same shape, only in different colors (turquoise and gold foil)? She used tape to adhere the punched out gold pieces to place in the cut out turquoise shape. I can't remember the thread title (I was sure that I had saved it, but can't find it)... something about getting more from your intricate dies?

Unfortunately, it doesn't remove pieces from one color cardstock to add to another (you could, but it would be time consuming!). I think she just it the teal cut out & embossed image on top of a cut out gold one. If this isn't what you're looking for, at least you'll have another technique to add to your list. ;)
