AUGUST PROGRESSIVE CHALLENGE 15 - TASK #4 (08/27/13)
Thank you to all of the talented scrapbookers who have taken part in this month's Progressive Challenge! There are just two steps left in this challenge (and I bet you already knew what they were!):
#1 - A title for your page! I love to use sentiments from my SU digital stamp sets for titles
#2 - journal in your journalling spot!
Here's my sample! I can't wait to see the finished works of art from this crew!
Here is mine for the month. I had the journaling already done but could not come up with a title until this morning or it would have been done already too!
I had a slight delay getting my page ready to photograph.......I had to shop for groceries  this morning.
I'm bummed. I think the external hard drive with my scrap pages just crashed. I was putting the finishing touches on my progressive page and when I went to save...I got the little hourglass thingy that never stopped. Now I can't access the HD. SO, it might be a while before I can post my page. I have most of my pages backed up, but not for the past couple of months. And I had some in progress. I'll be so depressed if I lost everything on the EHD, though. Ugh!
there are people out there that can recover, for a price, things that are on crashed hard drives. usually. lets hope that its not really crashed. ugh. I feel your pain.

Um, I think it's really crashed! When I plug it in, it says I will have to reformat the HD before using. NOT a good sign. I contacted a recovery service and they gave me a blanket estimate of between $695 and $2000!! (yep, you read it right!) I'm going to contact some other places, but I have a feeling that the message I get indicates that it's not in good shape. I can survive if I lose it, but it's just heartbreaking (and a smack the side of my head for stupidity! lol)
Well, if I didn't have the majority of my pages backed up, I might be very very tempted, but I backed up shortly before I got my new computer, and I had a lot of down time from making many pages while I was getting up to speed with the new system, so I'm actually not losing enough to justify the expense. I will be losing some of the most recent pages, but most were at least uploaded to Splitcoast. I might not be able to print them as 12x12's, but I can still share them with others online and display on my screensaver or digital frame. I keep hoping I'll plug in the EHD some time and it will be working (I can always dream, right? lol)

Oh no! What a nightmare!

That's still painful! I guess you could re-create the pages too. This isn't the HD that all of your digi files are on for creating is it!?

OK, I used my Task 3 web page file to finish my page. Not sure if I can print it for my album, but at least I got it done! Thanks so much, Terri! This was definitely fun!
Here's page 4 of the challenge. Terri, thanks so much for hosting! It was a great designi! Can't wait to see what Wendy has in store for us in September!

Bummer Wendy, that just happened to me a couple of months ago too :(
my husband is a sr. system engineer and i told him about your hard drive and he said many times its not the hard drive but the power source that makes the hard drive work. and you could open the hard drive and install the actual hard drive into a computer and you will be able to get your things off of it.
now do i know how to do it? in theory i get it, but he is the only one who opens the back of my computer!
but its a thought.

OMG, that would be wonderful. Even though I had 90% of my pages in psd format backed up, I feel like I'm in mourning over the 20 or so pages that I hadn't backed up. My son is a sr. network engineer, so I'll ask him if he can help me. Thanks so much for the suggestion, Lori. I never would have thought of asking my son about this type of problem!
Terri suggested that I recreate the lost pages but I use so many things from different kits, it would be a huge task to do that. I'm going to try printing a few pages in the smaller size (400 kb or less) to see how they turn out. But 12x12 is what they were originally designed to be printed at and many of the elements and photos will be small. :(
