I'm really liking the pressed clay & was wondering if anyone has found new or other uses for this product besides the catalog examples. Surely this is a versatile product and the sky is the limits!!!!! :rolleyes:

This beautiful card by Holstein was what pushed me over the top into ordering the clay! Biggan is another who has used clay in creative ways for years.
It is showing up mainly as flowers or buttons when you do a keyword search in the gallery.

It's our first day of home schooling and I'm off on a simply pressed clay binge-there are some beauties on pinterest as well. Pressed baby feet, stamped clay rounds turned into magnets and lots of clay roses.
Now back to your regularly scheduled life ;)
I found Martha Stewart's air dry clay and silicon molds recently, and have been using them to make embellishments for paper flowers. Found tons more molds on Etsy. I like Martha's clay much easier to work with than most other air dry clays, but still prefer Premo Sculpey. I run it through a dedicated pasta press to condition it.
I too have been bitten by the 'paper clay' bug.
I like the Simply Pressed clay by Stampin Up.
Made many flowers from their flower mold but wanted something more.
I found molds from Martha Stewart and Mod Podge.
Have been making so many embellishments for my card making.
They dry overnight, are light weight, look great painted in liquid pearls then glossy accents.
I actually use some old rubber molds I had when I was making mints. You can buy them in a cake decorating store, or craft store. They come in all sizes amid shapes. They are Los used for gum making.
I saw a video recently where she rolled a tiny bit out flat and tried for form it in a "decent shape" she took a stamp and pressed it and then it was colored and allow to dry...WOW! With all the wonderful stamps in our collection...the possibilites are endless!
BTW...she rolled it out super thin so it was roughly the thickness of thick cardstock...no extra postage for the wonderful lightweight dimension that it gave.

As much as I like the clay from Stampin' Up, it is rather expensive. I tried Model Magic from Crayola. It comes in several colors and can be found at Target, craft stores,etc. Mold it and let it air dry--usually overnight. Love it!
Sure, no problem! It was a total eye opener for the unlimited possibilities!
Veronica has a really neat channel and she is always excited and enthusiatic and has a clear and articulate voice and great instruction. She is a school teacher and I can tell she LOVES teaching and her kiddos!
That was such an inspiring tutorial that I simply had to give it a try....it was really fun and quite easy! I suggest using some Versamark on your stamp before pressing to make it easier to pull out of the imprint. Simply Pressed Christmas

Thanks Valerie! I wish I'd seen your adjectives before I sent in a recent application for a design team. I never know how to describe my style...natural doesn't quite fit, but I love organic!
I am so glad you shared the video. I have some molds I bought with the clay as well as some candy molds, but I like her ideas of using ef's and the soap stamps and of course I had to try just pressing a stamp right in there too!

I had to come up with creative words for things b/c when my oldest daughter was in PreK or kinder...I was so embarrassed when during an interview she was asked, "So what does your mom do?" she replied, "Oh NOTHING! she just plays with markers and crayons all day!" OH MY WORD!
How do you make a homemaker with a crafty hobby sound like she does more than play with marker all day!???
I had to tell her, "Mommy is an ARTIST and is being creative!" "Can you repeat that with me....Mommy is an ARTIST!"
Are they thin enough to mail without using extra postage?
The Stampin Up molds are fairly thin. The clay is also slightly squishy even when it's dry. I think that is a plus for mailing! It is also lightweight so I don't think it would add to the postage.
How do you color the SU clay? I prefer to tint the clay before I mold; I mixed ink with it today--it was a bear to get the ink through the entire little blob of clay. My fingers are inked. Thanks!

You could directly color the finished piece, which I think gives a more intense color. Alternatively, you can moosh the clay and reinker around with your fingers inside a plastic bag (or use gloves).

Place the clay into a sandwich baggie, then drip your ink onto the clay... roll/mix the clay inside the baggie, so your fingers remain pristine!

FYI I had some Wilton Fondant molds I had gotten on deep clearance and they work perfect for the paper clay as well...............very pretty on my cards.......I just don't fill them clear up with the paper clay, that way the mold is not too thick when u are done with it as that would be too bulky on a card.
