Do you ever wonder what to do with the paper you have left over after punching or die-cutting an image? With a little advanced planning, you can save that scrap from your trash can and use it on your layout.
First, punch or die-cut a shape. Be sure to leave a little space around all sides.
Cut around the negative space (the hole that shape left) in a square, rectangle, or tag shape.
Back that piece with colored cardstock or patterned paper and use the resulting embellishment (as well as your original die-cut) on your layout.
Some variations on this technique include using 3-D foam tape to pop up the negative piece, using the negative space as a journaling area, placing a photo under the cut-out instead of paper, or creating a border using multiple cut-out spaces backed with another color cardstock or patterned paper.

I really like this one, Cheryl! You have some good suggestions too. I may not get this one done today as I'm supposed to visit my mom. That might not happen since I've inherited DH's cold and really shouldn't expose my 93-year-old mom. So we'll see.
Isn't it 1 pm EST? I gotta get it straight, since I'm due to post next!
Wendy, I thought EST is 2 hours ahead of PST at this time of year due to daylight savings. Did I mess that up? If so, I'm sorry, gals. Wendy, I would just post when you feel the time is right, since we're all dying to see your challenge anyway!
Great challenge Cheryl. Love your page, too! I will be back sometime this week with a page.
Love it and I know just what I'm going to do. Just happen to have my new CTMH Artbooking Cricut Cart and I cut out a page piece to use and I realized the background was JUST as cute! Hoping I can get this paper I'm writing for one of my classes done soon so I can play :o

Nope, other way around--PST and EST spring forward together, so it's 3 hrs in summer. Arizona doesn't change, so California and AZ have the same 3 hr. difference from EST during DST. It always confuses me too, because I'm originally from NY (EST) plus we don't observe DST in Arizona.
Anyway, I'll post at 3 pm EST, so there'll be the 2 hrs. between challenges.
hmm...another challenge for digi. I'll have to ponder this one to try and make it work. I've got the other 2 pages done so I need to upload and then I'll think a bit and cruise through my digi files to see if anything similar catches my eye....
sorry to hear you're not feeling well...seems odd to have a cold in the heat of the summer, doesn't it? We just had some cooler weather here last week and DH was complaining about not feeling well because of the change.

In Arizona, we have the "heat" no matter what season--so it's not so uncommon! DH hardly ever catches anything, so it was really a surprise that he caught it (not so much that he gave it to me )
It's so nice to have you here scrapping this weekend, Terry! Sorry it's due to your immobilization!
