Is anyone going to this? I am going to be in Vegas on that weekend so I went to the website and FB page to find out info and even sent them an email...are these kind of things free to the public? I just have to show up with my wallet and start shopping?!?!? :mrgreen: I have never attended anything like this before. If you are going or have been in the past, tell me all about it!!! Thanks
Usually there is an admission charge. There used to be one in Vegas every year and I went to a couple of them, when I lived in CA. Admission is usually less than $10 and then it's 'hold on to your wallet', as there are usually many vendors selling their wares. If you decide to go, have a great time and report how it was.
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I hope it's not run by the same group that ran the one I went to in Vegas in 2008. It was HORRIBLE! There were only about 15-20 vendors and half of them had NOTHING to do with stamping/scrapbooking. When I go to a stamp/scrapbook convention, I usually spend $$$ out the wazoo and I spent less than $40 dollars at that convention plus the entrance fee. It wasn't worth the time or effort. Luckily, I didn't make a special trip to Vegas just for it or I would've been LIVID. I just happened to be in Vegas for my in-laws 50th anniversary that weekend.
Again, I hope this is not the case for you and that you have a WONDERFUL time!
I hope it is fun for me, too!! We go to Vegas each year for our anniversary which coincides with SIMA and my other half will go there with my brothers and leave me to my own devices This year though, I saw this online and thought about switching weekends to go. Like I said, I have not heard back from anyone and I emailed over a week ago. The website says that Stampin Up will be there and so will Sizzix so I do hope it does not fizzle out :(

Hopefully once it gets closer to the date, they will post the vendors on their website and you can window shop the vendors' websites so you'll have an idea of what you want to buy. Usually you can buy advance tickets on the website site that are a few dollars cheaper that paying at the door.
Just logged onto Facebook and this post was in my newsfeed...not quite sure what it is they are saying... This was posted by the owner of the FB Page "Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo" and signed by "Scott" whoever that is, I don't know. Just seemed odd to me, that's all. Is there something going on in the crafty sector that I am not aware of? :confused:
Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo

Thank you to all the "private" e-mails and voice mails from our many loyal show attendees. we are so happy to not be involved in the rubber stamp or scrapbook industry any longer. There's just so many other sectors of show promotion and marketing that I find so much more fulfilling and REWARDING. Maybe in our lifetime stamping and paper crafting will come back to be en vogue again. But for right now we have been informed of another 7 rubber stamp stores and 3 rubber stamp company's that have gone out of business. Very sad for many of you I am sure. Rest assured we're busier than ever with so many projects running all at the same time. We stay in touch with a few of our former exhibitors and they all say pretty much the same thing of how small and slow the shows are now this year in particular. Much of that I chuck up as "KARMA", ah what a BUMMER, LOL! There are also VERY many bad people in the stamping and scrapbook industry, to them we have no sympathy for....... Peace! Oh, there's ONLY ONE ARTIST NAMED "Picasso" and HE left us with the most awesome ART! Peace, Scott

I went to the FB page and read the comments in addition to the OP. WOW! What a bunch of negativity! Why do they even have rubber stamp and scrapbook in on their page? Ugh! I bet this was the promoter of the show I went to in '08 and why there were only a handful of rubber stamp/scrapbooking booths there. With an attitude like this, why would rubber stamp/scrapbooking companies want to associate themselves with this group?
They did a show in 2012 in my city. It wasn't very good. It had gotten worse and worse every year. There WERE many stamp companies who refused to come because of this Scott guy (rumours I have heard - only confirmed by one company owner - this was the case for him). Half of the area were stamping and scrapbooking related, and we had to pay to get into that. However, the other half, which was NOT separated by any physical barrier, was full of vendors selling other stuff - Pampered Chef, sex toys, candles, lotions, weird stuff, shoe inserts. That half was called the "women's expo". That half was free to get into. So basically people could just lie and say they were there for the women's expo and then wander over to the stamping and scrapbooking area. There were so few stamp companies that were there that I was planning not to attend in 2013. Fortunately, another company took over in 2013 and got rid of the stupid women's expo area, and filled the whole area with stamp companies.
My friends and sisters and myself go all the time. Some shows are disappointing but since we live here it is a day away from home and we normally always find stuff we want to buy...sometimes more than other times.

Well, we will go...and I am sure I will find something good while I am there. The upside of going to Vegas is that there are way better craft stores than what we have here not to mention a DSW! And Hobby Lobby!!! And a REAL MALL!!!!! Sorry....I got a little carried away

This is the same convention that used to go to North Carolina. The 1st year was OK, but it went rapidly downhill after that. The 3rd or 4th year was so bad that my group of friends decided that we would never attend again. There weren't many vendors and there were very few scrap and stamp booths; about half were bead/jewelry booths. Nice stuff, but not what we were interested in.
The problem is that Scott is so rude to vendors and customers alike. So the vendors stopped booking with him, and as the number of vendors dropped, so did the attendance. One of my friends sent him an e-mail and when he finally decided to reply, he was rude to her. So really, the FB comments don't surprise me at all.
So bottom line, my advice is to check the website for the list of vendors. If there are enough vendors, that you like, attending then by all means attend. If not, save yourself the money and frustration. If I were going to Vegas, I'd go to the Viva Las Vegas stamp store and skip the convention.
