Michael's now carrying magnetic platform for Big Shot.
I'm so thrilled! I used my 50% off Michael's coupon to buy the "Genius" 6x13 magnetic platform for my Big Shot. It comes with 10 free dies (one pattern in 10 sizes). With the coupon, it cost $25. Color me happy!

Wow! What a great buy that is!! I will have to check my Michaels out!! Thanks for the enabler !! ;)
Hmmm, not to burst your bubble, but after some research, all the places I've checked who are doing pre-orders show the Big Shot Magnetic Platform retails for only $39.95, so if you used a 50% coupon, and you paid $25, you didn't get the dies free!
Are you sure it's the Big Shot Magnetic Platform or is it the Spellbinders/Nestibilities brand? I thought the Big Shot platform wouldn't be in retail stores until sometime in September!
If you're worried about your Big Shot having any issues, you may want to be cautious with using the Lifestyle platform as it hasn't been tested by Sizzix and not covered under warranty: https://www.sizzix.com/compatibility_notice

You haven't burst my bubble at all. I purchased the Lifestyle Crafts Genius magnetic platform which is larger than the Sizzix Big Shot magnetic platform, hence the difference in price. I have a Big Shot Pro as well as a Big Shot so getting the 6x13 platform is ideal for me and it works perfectly with both machines as well as my Sizzix, Spellbinders and Memory Box dies. It is so convenient not to have to tack down my dies to keep them in place. And the included free dies are a nice change from the dies I usually use. I know not everyone needs a 6x13 platform but I find it convenient to place a whole lot of dies through my Big Shot at one time. But no matter what brand you get I think magnetic is a good way to go.
Does this include the Cuttlebug?? I am wondering how long it will take before there is a platform from Cricut/Provocraft.
Here's a link to a video by Cutathome showing it being used in a Cuttlebug - looks like a version 2, though I think the opening for plates is the same on the V1 and V2.
If it is 13" long, then it is as long as the decorative strip die platform? That IS cool!
I've been thinking of investing in the longer regular platform for my Big Shot. I know the longer platform comes with the new teal Big Shot (2013 version).
Does the Genius platform work with the same sandwich as the regular Big Shot platform?
It's slightly different, but I am pretty sure that what you get with the platform gives you everything you need to cut wafer thin dies. Some people have really fallen in love with the self-healing cutting plate/mat concept. I chose the Sizzix magnetic platform for my own reasons, but the idea of cutting plates/mats that don't warp is very appealing to me.
Oh, and here is a review of the Genius Magnetic Platform from someone with an older version Cuttlebug.
Does the Genius platform work with the same sandwich as the regular Big Shot platform?
No, it has it's own sandwich structure. It comes with 2 mats of different thickness. Mat A is for Spellbinders and Sizzix Framelits and Mat B is for pretty much everything else
Although I haven't tried to, you can use 2 of the Mat B with Sizzix BiGZ dies, but you don't have to. I just use the 2 Sizzix acrylic pads that I've always used with my Bigz dies and Big Shot.

Reason: grammar error
I've seen several reviews that say the individual magnets on the Genius platform make dies jump around. Does anyone know if this is a problem with the SU one?
Just a thought--I too jumped on the Genius magnetic platform before I thought it through. Here is what I realized after it was too late. Never had any problem cutting out shapes in any card stock color--what I was so excited about was putting something on a stamped image or an edge and keeping it in place/so stands to reason I going to fall in love with a product that will do this for me But no on my first try I realize my die cut has to be on the bottom with my image on top of that face down so I am right back where I started with having to tape my die in place but $50 in the whole. With the SU one you put your paper down first and your die on top of your stamped image and it does not move. So very sorry I did not wait for the SU one--which I will most likely get too. Maybe I can put my Genius on craigs list, ya think. Hope I can save someone else my regrets. Certainly not my first but is indeed one of my more costly.

Does Provo have one out yet for the Cuttlebug? I dom't want to risk hurting or killing my bug! My daughters gave it to me for Christmas about five years ago and it is very near and dear to my heart!
I know how they eventually go to crafters heaven ;-(

Did your Micheals allow you to use the 50% coupon on a Sizzix product?! I am impressed.
Stampin Up sells them for $39.99 but they have had such a large amount of orders, they had to take the platforms off of the site until they get more in.
The Micheal's down here will not allow me to use the 50% or the 40% coupons off on any Sizzix brand item. Joann's won't let me use the coupons with Spellbinders and Micheal's won't let me get Sizzix. Only one left is AC Moore but they do not have anything at all anymore.
Congratulations on getting your platform!!!!! I am envious!!
"Stop paint chip abuse. Act now!!
Won't somebody think of the paint chips?"
To Metalcharm -
I must admit to you that I abuse paint chips all of the time. From my re-enforced rings earrings to my Mosaic Marbles key chain (made from kitchen counter laminate chips from Lowes) I cannot seem to stop my abusive pattern. Next project abuse? a Multiple layered chain necklace with paint chip rings and squares hanging on it.
I should be ashamed...but its hard. Every time I go into Lowes I hit the paint counter and the kitchen laminates sample wall.

Thanks for sharing this news. Our JoAnn's has carried them for a while, but won't let you use a coupon on them.. Michael's will, so I will definitely be looking for it.

I just saw the video...ewwwww. Did she rub steak sauce on her arm or something?! I got 2 labradors and the only time they lick us is when one of us is on the floor playing and yell, "Kisses!" then they both try to kiss us to death. That little Jack Russell(?) looked like it was tenderizing her for later! Ewwwwww.
Does anyone know the SKU number of the magnetic platform at Michaels? The Michaels here don't have any in stock but they told me if I found the SKU number they could order it in for me.
I have the Genius magnetic platform - and have a question. Since it didn't come with any instructions - is there a right and wrong side of the cutting mat?
