Question Magnetic Platform Not Exclusive to Stampin Up?

Hi, I just saw a youtube video from Ucutathome.com of the Sizzix Magnetic Platform. I thought it was only Exclusive to Stampin Up. It seems this will be offered at a better price because of the coupons offered from Ucut and other stores, correct? Glad I waited a little.

I called Ucutathome, and they said they WILL be carrying the Magnetic Platform. They are going to email me the availability date. ;-)

That is excellent news! I really, really enjoy using mine and feel grateful I was able to get it via Stampin Up. That said, I know it's not always feasible for people to order through them. It's great that all the Sizzix retailers will be able to carry this if they so choose. Really, this is too cool and helpful of a tool to keep exclusive to one retailer.

On my wish list along with the extended multipurpose platform. Thanks for sharing

Sigh... I wish this was available in a size to fit a Cuttlebug.
Might be time to upgrade to a Big Shot.

I will consider buying it if Michaels or ACMoore carries it and I can use a coupon. I just can't afford to pay nearly $40 for it through SU. I really spend a lot on SU products already.

There is always something that Stampin Up! will not have exclusively. It take extra money for all those exclusive items.

As far as Cuttlebug goes. why not try a thin piece magnet. ( roll sheet) cut it to the size you want.

This might work. Try it on something small. So you don't break your machine.

I have used a piece of a magnet sheet to hold dies in place in my cuttlebug, but it only helps to keep them in place relative to each other, which is good for letters or to create a frame. What I like about the platform, that I can't picture how to do with just a magnet sheet, is the ability to have the paper between the die and the magnet, to cut out stamped images without needing to temporarily secure them. Or for a much shorter reply, I like the idea of die -> paper -> magnet vs. paper -> die -> magnet.

I noticed the youtube video says the magnet is strong and to keep away from pacemakers.....just a warning in case some didn't know.

That is exactly why I like this platform so much and one of 2 reasons why I liked it better than the Genius platform. (other reason is the magnetic pull is about 5x stronger)

There is a warning label on it, too. It has such a strong magnetic pull, I do not think they are just "playing it safe" with that warning. I am also very careful these days about having my phone and/or laptop on my work table when I have the Big Shot out. I would also imagine it has the ability to erase the magnetic strips on cards if your wallet was too close.

In case anyone is interested, I found the Sizzix Magnetic Platform at Hobby Lobby today...and used a coupon on it too (ended up being about $21 I think?). There was only one at my local store and they are sold out on their website, so hurry in if you're interested!

just a make sure you get the sizzix one. I had a friend buy from different company, and you had to use the Framelit down first, then paper on top, or the magnets were not strong enough to hold through the cutting platform and the paper. silly, because if the paper is on top, how can you line up your image with the Framelit? she saw my sizzix one and was amazed I could do it. she bought hers online, not sure what brand, and can't return it. waste of money. Even a week later she was over again and tried out my magnetic platform, to see if it "still worked" because she had tried hers again and it didn't. You get what you pay for I guess.

Just wanted to add that the magnetic pull on these things is no joke...

I went to lay the platform down (still in the package) on one of HL's metal shelves while I looked at something else...and knew immediately from the loud THUNK that I hadn't thought that one through. Several other customers enjoyed the show as I stood in the aisle trying to wrench this thing back off the shelf and shaking the entire display. And the kicker? I was in the glass decor section.

Definitely not my smartest moment...but I'm incredibly happy with my new platform!

I've used my magnetic platform to pick up pins I've spilled on the carpet. Works great and I got them up in no time flat.
