I love that the numbers are under a clear piece so they won't rub off. I also love the design that naturally builds some static with the paper when placed on the base so it won't slip while cutting. Third good point is that you can cut a card sized piece from a whole sheet without extending the arm.

The thing I really love about it is that you can leave both the blades in at the same time. If you are cutting you can 'park' the scoring one at one end and vice versa. I love it every time do it. How sad am I?
It seems to cut square. It doesn't seem particularly robust, in that I wouldn't cut thick card with it, I do that with a guillotine.
I agree with madameplushbottom.... There's no extending arm to fuss with, the clear cover to keep the numbers from rubbing off rocks & the static is all fabulous!

I hadn't realized that they aren't yet available. I agree they look like fun. I might wait to get them and put them on my Xmas wishlist or get them during SAB. My list is sooooo much bigger than my budget but they are definitely on a " to get" list.
I also like the storage in the trimmer - I usually have my bone folder (for creasing folds) and stylus (for making punched flower shapes more dimensional) in it and I think a Sakura glue pen fits too.
tina I cut 100# mohawk paper w/o any issues. I like to cut single sheets even with lesser weight cardstock. Love this trimmer
Unless I'm cutting copy paper, I also just cut a sheet at a time but it's great that this trimmer handles the heavier cardstock many card makers prefer.
I have used three other popular trimmers in my card making history. This trimmer is by far my favorite. It has a combination of the best features of the other three. I highly recommend it!
Just curious about the new accessories? in the new catty? and they are not available yet?? Which ones, pray tell?

the rotary trimmer accessories for the stampin' trimmer. it is stated directly in the catalog when they are available. I suspect SU chose to do this so that the information is directly in each catalog rather than expecting demonstrators to print a supplemental flyer with the details later on. Hope this helps!

Oh, thanks. I forgot the thread was about the trimmer, and got carried away thinking about all the other things like buttons etc. lol........
Anyone have problems with the scoring blade? Mine barely scores.
I just scored a few sheets (I had probably used it before but I also had a supply of scored card bases so ...)
ETA: The score line is faint but the folds are nice.
Worked super well on Astrobrights Eclipse Black smooth finish 80# cover (I scored one sheet at 4.25" and a second sheet at 5.50"). The package did not have any info regarding grain.
It also worked super well scoring at 4.25" on Cougar Digital grain long smooth 100# cover but was slightly raggedly scoring at 5.50" (most likely because it was against the grain).
I don't have other cardstock readily accessible to try but I think it works well, at least when scoring with the grain.
My only issue (at it's probably operator error) is removing the blades ... I want to put my cutting blade on top and keep the scoring blade on the bottom (I usually score a bunch of cardstock to keep handy and use my Martha Stewart board for that but when crafting away from home it's nice to only have one item to cut/score). When life get a bit less hectic I'll re-watch the videos but if anyone has any tips to share they'll be appreciated.
Do you realize that the blades can be removed, and you can put whichever one you want on top? Just slide the blade to the bottom and there is a cutout to remove the blade, then you can just put them back in the way you want. I love my SU trimmer!

We're undergoing a remodel and almost everything on my lower level has been crammed into the office/craft space or the basement/overflow craft space so I've only been making cards as I need them (got extra hours just before the remodel started so didn't get to make any in advance but did use the money for some more craft goodies!)

Hi there. It is a faint score. Is the rubber track in place? There is a rubber track that the cutting and scoring blades move along....if all of that is good, then report this to the demo you purchased through so s/he may help you and get a new scoring blade if needed.

It is a bugger to remove and it seems to be more challenging on some than others. I think I found it easier to pop mine out when I had the plastic track raised up so it was perpendicular to the trimmer and then I saw a spot to pull up in and it popped out. HTH.

Thanks for this tip! I'm actually printing it and putting it in the storage tray (if I can fold it narrowly enough to fit) because I just can't mess with something that is working right now.

I have just gotten a new trimmer right before Stampin Up came out with the NEW Improved one. Can anyone tell me if the new rotary blade accessory fits on this fiskars trimmer? I am not sure if Fiskars makes SU but they look close to each other. THe only issue is i can't change out the base where they change it for the Rotary blades.
I just got the rotary attachment for the SU trimmer. You remove the entire arm that holds the blade and put the rotary arm in its place. The SU trimmer also has a rubber piece in the cutting track that is grooved on one side and flat on the other. The flat side has to face up for the rotary blade to cut correctly.
Do you like the Rotary Attachment for the SU Trimmer? I haven't tried it yet.
I've been so happy with the SU trimmer and have had many, many trimmers over the years! I love the scoring blade, as well as the fact that it does cut and trim very well without being "off". Also like the laminated cutting surface as it won't wear out and makes it easy to slide paper. I haven't used the storage on the bottom yet and I rarely use the extended arm, but knowing it's there if needed is definitely a plus. My favorite part though is it's footprint is light and it's easy to tote to crops! I think I'm buying my sister one as a gift because I love my cutter so much. Hope she's not reading these boards. LOL!

I haven't tried it yet. I mostly got it for the patterned blades. I also LOVE the trimmer. I have extra blades in the base, and the rotary blades fit in there too. One feature I like about the rotary blade is the safety. The blade is completely contained inside a plastic cartridge. You push down a piece on the handle to engage the blade for cutting.
I just got this trimmer and I love it. The only thing I am not to sure about is the rotary blade does not cut right next to the clear plastic piece that it slides down on. I am used to my fiskars that actually cuts right on the edge.

Do their cutting blades last any longer than other trimmers? You can't get their blades locally and have to pay shipping, etc-the main reason I've put off getting their trimmer. I have a similar size Fiskars with the wire guide, but the blades-even the fancy titanium ones-dull quickly. And Fiskars doesn't make a similar size with a rotary blade.

I have the basic trimmer, not the rotary. I am very happy with the trimmer and so enthusiastic that I may be responsible for my demo selling at least a half a dozen....the size is perfect, scoring is convenient, cuts are true, and the drawer is great to store extra blades. It is very easy to take with me when I craft at my friend's home. My blades are wearing well, I think they're going farther than my Fiskars, which is odd because I think they're the same. This just might be the perfect trimmer.
The Fiskars blades are different in that they can flipped around and I find that it keeps them going a bit longer if I do that. I also like to measure from the bottom of the trimmer and run the blade down towards me, with SU's there's no way to turn the blades around-another reason I've been hesitant to get it.
I love my SU Paper Trimmer, clean straight cuts every time...then I cut a piece of SU Glitter Paper with it. Now I don't get clean cuts on my card stock, it has a frayed cut edge. Is this trimmer not meant to cut anything but card stock? I just got replacement blades yesterday so assume once I put a new cutting blade in it will cut cleanly again but not happy you cannot cut glitter paper with it. Anyone else had this problem?

Yikes! That is a big drag. I have not cut any glitter paper yet, so thanks for the heads up. Sorry, it seems to have ruined your blade. Very disappointing.
Dragging the blade though the glitter is going to trash it instantly. Suggest if you *must* use it to cut glitter paper, cut glitter side down, very lightly. And then clean the glitter out of the track.

It irritates me that Stampin Up does not tell customers things like this.

Yes - our trimmer is meant for regular paper only. Running Glimmer Paper is like basically sandpapering off the blade. It also shouldn't be used with chipboard, magnet sheets or fabric. With guillotine and Rotary cutters, the blades are generally pushing down. With a track trimmer, you are pushing through. In any case, I am sorry that this isn't more clear or stated. It might be on the instructions but I don't really know. I will share your feedback on this to see if we can make this more commonly known.
For now, I am sending you 2 packs of replacement Trimmer Blades at no charge"
It is not in their instructions. I have always used a rotary cutter so didn't think twice about cutting the Glitter Paper with the SU Trimmer. I told SU exactly what I did and had always used a rotary trimmer. Even though it is not in their instructions I feel SU customer service went above and beyond.
