We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
Basic directions for the two techniques:
Emboss resist: stamp with versamark on glossy paper. emboss with clear embossing powder. When you apply the ink with a sponge or brayer, the embossed images with resist the ink. You might have to use a tissue to sop up any extra ink that remains on the images.
versamark resist: stamp with versamark on glossy paper. using a sponge or brayer, apply ink to the paper. the versamarked images will resist the ink and leave a faint image.
To combine the two technqiues:
Stamp the images you want to clear emboss and emboss. Don't smear on the ink yet. Stamp the images you want to be 'softer' in versamark. Then smear/brayer on the inks.
And, you MUST do the clear embossed images FIRST. If you try to do the other images first (the ones for versamark resist), when you sprinkle on the EP for the emboss resist images, your EP will stick to ALL the images. Might be a cool effect, but now what we are going for today.
As always, if you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!

Just a note: On versamark resist, it helps to dry the ink before braying the color on it. Otherwise, your brayer will actually pick up the versamark & spread the images around -- actually gets messy looking -- experience speaking here! I use my heat gun to dry the ink first. You will still get the resist effect.
This is a cool technique that I tried once and failed (don't ask me how I could fail at this but I did) -- I'm going to look at some samples in the Gallery and see what stamp sets work well with this technique. I think I didn't use the right stamp before .... Thanks for the challenge.
Great Challenge Beth! I've done both of these techniques, but never done them together on one card. This will be fun!
Oh, and uh, I wasn't stalking either, not me, no not me....
Good Morning Beth! Thanks for an awesome challenge...will definitely get to this one! My faux embossing flopped so I didn't post and for some reason, last Monday's polished stone is STILL drying. HELP!!! Anyways, THIS I know I can do.
Good Morning Ladies..;)
Hoping to try this technique together with last weeks color challenge. when I get home from work today.

I really look forward to spending my day's on this site looking at everyone's work, and being envious that I have to wait until later tonight to do some of these challenges..only if I am not bagged.....:(

Hi Everyone!! Just checking the challenge.... even though I can't play!! Boohoo! I have my stamping space under "construction". I am repainting and reorganizing, so everything is piled up or under sheets!! Hopefully, I will get it painted quickly and can do this challenge later in the week. Sounds great and I have always wanted to give it a try!! I will just have to sit and adore all your great works!!
Happy Stamping!!

Morning, Beth. Thanks for the fun challenge. I haven't tried combining these yet. My kids are out in the yard soaking up the gorgeous Colorado sunshine and I am off to play. Thanks!!

I don't really stamp much. I'm just here for the company.
This is a really fun technique! I just got some gloss white - what a great way to break it in. Now I'm wishing I had a brayer and HH - oh well - maybe in June - then I'm the hostess for my stamp club! Anyhoo...here's my card:
