Hello and welcome to the Mix-Ability challenge here on Splitcoast! Our goal is to make mixed media, easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it!
Your projects can be any type – cards, scrapbook layouts, art journal projects, 3D pages.

My challenge today is to make a simple design with markers or paint
and then outline the shape with a fine black or white pen.

You can use your shapes to create a background or a focal image.

I am taking the Julie Balzer Getting Started course, so I will wait until tomorrow and watch her course... then practice AND do this challenge.

Every month she has a new course on mixed media basics. I highly recommend it The one for June is on watercolor

I just took a watercolor class at Balzer Designs Getting Started

One of the techniques we learned was to create a watercolor wash, crinkle some Saran Wrap on top, let it dry, and then doodle. Perfect timing to coincide with the timing of this awesome challenge.

I am really having a hard time trying to figure out what to do for this challenge. I'm worthless with a marker or a brush. Freehand anything is out of my "ability" zone. I might have to come up with something abstract.

I'm loving everything in the gallery but so far haven't found a style to follow. At least I've still got five days to work on it.

Thanks, Lela. I just looked at those classes and signed up for the watercolor class. I have been frustrated trying to learn what to do with watercolors on my own, and it looks like she is going to teach the kind of info that I'm looking for. A great price too.

I have been dragging my feet all week on this one. I really didn't want to draw anything. I finally decided to try the bg technique with plastic mesh that I saved a few weeks ago and also to use the red panel and red stripes to distract from my pitiful drawing.
