I've tried lots of techniques with my stencils. Here are a few:

Coloured first with inks, then paste added, and then glitter:

Glittered Candles by susanbri - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Paste added first, then coloured afterwards with inks:

CCC11 Stencilled Christmas by susanbri - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Paste first, then coloured with mica powder:

CCC11 Stencilled Snowflake by susanbri - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Paste first, then coloured with colour glitter:

CCC10 Holly Flourish by susanbri - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

No paste at all - double sided tape and glitter for this one:

Glittered Poinsettia by susanbri - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

A really different technique using the stencil with a Cuttlebug:

Stamp-free Flowers by susanbri - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Hope that gives you some ideas!!
