Challenge Title: Yin Yang Part II Hostess: understandblue aka Lydia Keyword: MIX17
Hello and welcome to the Mix-Ability challenge here on Splitcoast! Our goal is to make mixed media, easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it!
If you want to start these challenges in the pages of an art journal, instead of a card, or on scrapbook pages, or on 3D items - please know - ANYTHING is welcome! We want you to learn and enjoy!
For this challenge instead of shiny and matte mediums, I want you to use two different mediums with a different finish on your card - one smooth and one rough.
You can use these for your smooth texture, or others:
Dimensional glaze, like Crystal Effects OR
Heat embossing OR
Acrylic paint OR
Glaze pens
And here are some examples of bumpy or rough mediums:
Glass bead gel OR
Glitter OR
Textured mediums like Flower Soft or microbeads OR
Dry embossing or distressing
For my sample, I chose Crystal Effects and glitter for my Yin/Yang effect.
Please remember to put in the correct keyword when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos. Then come back to this thread and paste a link to the card in your gallery so we can all ooh and ahhh!
A neat idea for a challenge, going back to Mix1 with a twist for Yin Yang Part II. I'm going to have to let my ideas simmer a bit while I try to think of what I'll play with for this challenge. Great cards in the gallery so far!
Thanks for the fun challenge, Lydia! Here's my Verdigris Wedding Window . Thanks so much for looking!
I'll be back to comment...have to go to Home Depot for brackets to put one of my closet shelves back up. Sheesh! The builder should have known I'd put all my suitcases up there! Must use heavier brackets & bolts!!

Here is my art journal page, I left the letters very smooth, colored them with black Sharpie. I used cheesecloth on the background to give lots of rough texture: SING
Getting something made for this before tomorrow rolls around . MIX17 Pick and Mix
It's not quite like I imagined, but close enough, and more importantly it was fun.
