I reinked my soft sky pad with cool caribbean -what can I do to rectify this mistake?
I love my soft sky and hate to think I've ruined it forever.

Hi there!! I'm sorry to hear about that! I really don't know how to fix it, but the good news is that they are offering Soft Sky again in the future. If you needed to, you could contact your SU! rep and get a new one.

I did that with two Ranger archival ink pads and I just had to buy a new pad to replace the one that I reinked with the wrong color.
I don't think SU sells them, but you can buy uninked pads (foam or felt) and ink them yourself but if a new soft sky pad is available, I'd buy a new soft sky ink pad. The uninked pads are almost as much as the inked pads and the case they come in won't match your other SU stamp pads (if that would bother you).

Run it through the rinse cycle of your dishwasher and pull it out before the dry cycle. Air dry. Then re-ink! I have done this with many of my pads (especially retired ones -- once I run out of ink).

In my case I inked my black SU foam pad with navy SU reinker. So I placed the pad in the washing machine on a low, cold and delicate setting with no detergent and it came out just fine with no damage. Then I rinsed out the washing machine to be safe. I didn't even let it dry, just reinked with black. I was in a hurry to finish my project and knew I was taking a chance, but it was better than waiting on a new SU black ink pad to come in. Happy camper here with no big loss except half a bottle of reink.
I always have lots of different black ink pads, and when one of them gets low on ink I just add another color of reinker. I've had some amazing results from this & no disasters. I don't mix dye, chalk or pigment inks though.

I agree...I think you would just run it under the tap (wear rubber gloves) and soak/squeeze/soak/squeeze until the water runs clear. Let it air dry and re-ink.

I did this too. I inked AMuse Shell pad with Blush ink (Blush is a darker pink). Good tips about washing it out. I just set it aside, but now I will buy a Shell reinker try to save it!
Ditto here. I grabbed some form of red ink to reink my Crumb Cake pad. Rinsed under the faucet, let dry and reinked. Good as new. I also have changed some of my "spots" to new colors using this method.

I don't remember doing this, but I must have as I was so disappointed when my Soft Suede had a reddish tint to it. It took the next time to use it that I just knew something was wrong. I simply took an old wash cloth and got it really wet and continually wiped it over the pad and rinsed the cloth until Soft Suede appeared. Not sure what color I put on there, but I'm so glad it's gone!
Cool, my riding hood red has some sort of leprosy type disease, as in gross orange crud coating the surface. I've been wanting to do something with it for ages. I have a cranberry crisp pad I never use so maybe I'll wash it and reink it! Yeah! Or I might even have another I'd be even less likely to ever use again. I'm so glad I read this!

The "crud" on your Riding Hood Red ink pad could very well be the normal separating of something in the pigments. Most of my reds are doing that---especially my Bravo Burgundy. You can try using a clean pad and reinker, but I believe it is in the formula of the ink itself.
