Default So I'm going on a cruise

and since the expectation is relaxation I thought that maybe I'd do some stamping and coloring while I was busy undoing my stress. We're driving to the ship so no need to go through airport security and I'll keep my scissors below the 4" confiscation size. Any thoughts on what I should bring? I'm thinking:
black and brown momento and stazon
Gelatos and a paintbrush or 2
Spectrum noir
white and cream paper - maybe some watercolor paper
small variety of stamps and acrylic blocks. (no wood - that would take up too much room and I do have to transport them)
baby wipes and stazon remover *laugh*

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Now - I may wind up doing nothing at all but in case I get a wild hair - I want to be prepared.

Thanks in advance!

well, if you just want to color... what if you cut some cardstock into quarter sheets now, and stamped images on them of things you know you need to get done this coming year? birthdays weddings, for fun, Christmas etc...

and pack your things to color, a lap board and your pre stamped images?

If I was going on a cruise, I would take what I needed to make my Christmas cards. That way I would have a project that I know I would definitely be using. Sometimes when I just stamp and color things ahead it seems like it is a long time before I do anything with all of it. Christmas cards I know for sure I would use.

Does your cabin have a table? When I was on a cruise, there was no table in our cabin to do crafts or anything. If so, it would have been fun to bring a few card kits along.

I definitely have a table. I was thinking I'd roll my box up to a convenient deck table anyway.

For what it's worth, you will be so busy you will not have time to craft. We have been on several cruises and there is so much to do that we run out of time. (maybe you already have been on a cruise and know this).

I personally would not haul anything with me.

Wannabe - DH is telling me I'm crazy. Yes - we're seasoned cruisers. Perhaps ... I should just order another drink. *grin*

When I traveled to Ireland I brought along a SMASH book type journal and some stickers, etc. Each night as I wound down for bed, I would journal about the day's adventures and I used pamphlets, maps, etc to cut up for some color etc. It was really fun and I know myself well, none of my pictures have been scrapbooked or even printed! You could also bring along stuff to Zentangle. Those supplies don't take up much room and it is very relaxing.

Billie I dont have any suggestions on what to bring. Everyone else has it covered. I just wanted to say I hope you have the best time ever. I cant wait to hear you say it was the time of your life!
I went on a 7 day western Caribbean a couple years ago with my hubby. It was such a great time.
Blessings

bring less than you think. I would think it is like a crop where you would tend to pack too much. I think I would pre-stamp the images as recommended above. I too would rather have a project, like birthday cards for a year or christmas cards. That way you can bring just what you need.
have fun

For what it's worth 2, I took a big box of stuff (12x12 plastic lidded job) when we cruised from Hawaii to Australia. 21 days at sea and I did not open the box. if I was to do it again, I would just take colored pencils and pre-stamped images and save myself a lot of space. I live in fear of being stranded somewhere with nothing to do. Not a real good cruiser! have a wonderful time!

I hope you have a terrific time on your cruise! I have done something similar to what Gail in post #9 described. I purchased a smallish artist's sketch book, you know the kind with the black flat cover? I took many more supplies than what I actually used, which was scissors, a few generic travel themed stamps, black ink and adhesive. Of course, I ran out of adhesive during the trip! I picked up any paper that pertained to our adventures on the ship and in ports. I cut out the papers and glued them in and wrote little notes about what we did. One of the best pages is based on a candy bar wrapper from Juneau that was decorated with Juneau images. I'm mostly a card maker, but this was a fun/easy -sort of a scrapbook- project. Not a single photo made it into that book either!

I agree with your hubby and wannabe. Pack comfortable clothes and a good book for if you get bored (NOT). Have a wonderful time!

I would take some stamped images and a box of pencils in case I had some down time. I see you are a cruiser, so you know how busy you can be (or not if you choose). I have been on 3 and even was married on one. I was on the go all the time, where my hubby would slow down in the afternoons and take a nap. I just recall having to roll my luggage up the ramp and get on and off the ship, so I like to travel light. Most of all, have a BLAST! I wish I was going !!

Best laid plans of mouse and men! I was so busy relaxing and vacationing - I never even thought about card making. By the way - it was the Carnival Magic out of Galveston to Roatan, Belize and Cozumel.

So .. I'm still way behind. And now with the new house closing in 9 days - I'll be behind for a while!

I would not bring anything, always have activities if you want something to do. I did bring thank you cards to give to staff, they really appreciate handmade.

so glad you had a relaxing vacation. Cruises are the best for that. Isn't Magic great? We were on that ship in 2011 when it was still in Europe. It's beautiful.

I hated it when I had to pack up my stuff to move. I couldn't wait to get back to it. Creating something is relaxing isn't it?

I don't know if Carnival has scrapbooking classes or not, but my suggestion would be to take card bases and use the kit to make cards.

As another seasoned cruiser and avid stamper, I would merely reiterate this same advice. In addtion, the cabins are so small and storage at such a premium, any more my packing mantra is "less is more"
