Women often think that our breasts somehow defined femininity, so dealing with the loss of one or both gives us a great sense of loss. Some refer to it as phantom limb, while others may not consider a breast a limb but they are an appendage just like an arm or a leg.
So my challenge to you is to make a card with something missing. To let those who have had a mastectomy or double mastectomy know that they are still a whole person. That it's not what they now look like that makes them who thy are. What makes us who we are is how we treat others, what's in our heads and what's in our hearts and how we chose to share that with others.. One, whole, beautiful!
"Often survivors have a great sense if loss. Like they are missing a part
of themselves. Your life looks different, work has changed or you
simply can't do now what you could do before, your body has changed,
your hair has changed, you miss out on things simply because you can't
do them anymore or because you have appointments for treatment or follow
up. My challenge is to honor survivors by making a card that is missing
something. You can do this many ways. Here are a few ideas...use the
spotlight techniques, use the window techniques, remove a strip if card
stock from your card front like I have."
Challenge: make a card with something missing. It can be a window card, use a die cut negative, use your imagination and have fun!

Thank you for participating in this card drive for a great cause!
I really don't get it. Something missing? Make a card and then take something off?
You can leave an image uncolored, make a window card (so the hole is what's missing), use a negative die cut instead of the cut itself, the spotlight technique, just use part of an image, anything along those lines. Hope that helps!

This is a link to my sample, I chose a gal who is missing her hair for the image and she is the only thing of "color" on the card the rest of it is black and white
I thought this would be a difficult challenge how do you show a negative? Took me about a half hour, while exercising, to come up with an idea, then another to figure out how to put the idea to paper. Here is my Missing U

Wow, I can't believe I actually got a card made for this today! Not plan A or even plan B, but I still like plan C. I cut an aperture out of my card front.
I'm getting here late - still catching up from earlier in the week - but I made a big mistake...I read the challenge and couldn't think of a good idea right off the bat, so I looked at all the cards that have been posted so far. You girls are utterly amazing! You all have come up with some fabulous ideas for making cards that look complete - and beautiful - and yet they are technically missing something. It might take me the rest of the weekend to come up with something worthy of joining this bunch!

This was such a thoughtful challenge. I went with the obvious, but I had purchased this stamp a while ago hoping to use it in October. I hope no one is too shocked or offended but I think this gal is beautiful. I appreciate the comments thus far.
I went to the goofy side a little bit - my SIL is a retired nurse as are many of her friends. She asked me for a fun nurse card which I posted a while back. She liked it so much she asked me to re-create it, so this is the result. There are two views of the same card.

I tore an edge of the card to create something "missing" but I also only used paper. No stamps or embellishments, it was hard not using a bit of wink of stella but I left it out too.
