Hi, I'm Paula! I live in the Houston area with my husband, Jeff, three young kids (ages 6.5, 5, 3), and our dog, Frisbee. I'm a stay at home mom, a lapsed reader finding the time again, and a procrastinator extraordinaire. I've lived in Southeast Texas my entire life and while I don't love the heat or humidity, I don't know how to cope in the cold. Hurricanes are scary, but temps below zero are just crazy. I've been drawing pictures and cutting up bits of paper and leaving them all over the house since I was a little girl. I joined Splitcoast in 2005 and have been here almost every day since then.

Randomness:
* Jeff and I met playing the bride and groom in a community theater production of Father of the Bride. We started after the show ended.
* He is 11 years older than me and it's awesome.
* Sweater weather is the best. It's also the hardest to come by here.
* We are nerds. Firefly, Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Pokemon, Adventure Time, Lord of the Rings, Neil Gaiman, Comicon, Renfest, etc. Our children are nerdy right along with us.
* I am a huge Disney fan and wanted to be an animator from the time I was 10 until I was 18. I still love all things animation.
* I love costumes and historical fashion. I have some great vintage pieces. But I usually just wear nerdy t-shirts, jeans, and TOMS.
* I hate the taste of alcohol and love the taste of coffee.
* Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant are my favorites.
* I'm nit-picky about movies. Ask anyone.
* I have always loved words, quotes, language, accents, dialects, and grammar. (Please note, love does not necessarily equal adept.) Several stamp sets have come to live with me because they contained a favorite quote.
* I love office supplies, especially notebooks and pens. Jeff gave me a big set of Sharpies, a huge bag of M&Ms, and Tinker Bell car mats one year for my birthday. It was perfect.
* I have no rhythm and if there is only one thing in an entire room I will find a way to run into it. Despite this, I have belly danced in public.
* My dad takes tours to Israel and I went four times when I was young.
* I have crafting ADD. I bead, knit, tie dye, am trying to learn crochet, sew, stitch, and do paper crafts.
* I am ridiculously indecisive.
* My house has always been messy. The children are just a convenient excuse.

My connection to breast cancer has been mostly after the fact. My mother-in-law had breast cancer that went into remission, but she passed away from secondary cancers before Jeff and I ever met. I have had lots of experience with cancer, however. Both my grandfathers died from lung cancer, both my grandmothers survived cancer: bladder and melanoma. My father-in-law was being treated for prostate cancer during our wedding 12 years ago and is still around telling oil field stories today. I will never forget visiting my maternal grandmother in the cafeteria of MD Anderson when I was 9.

Hope You Can Cling To imprinted on me like a baby duck. It starts on my birthday, goes through my favorite month of the year, the cards go to support people at a hospital in my own city where several family members have received treatment. This is my favorite event of the year. Thanks so much for participating!

Pictures: 1) My kids crack me up. 2) Hanging out in front of the Tardis at Comicon. 3) Van shenanigans. 4) The natural state of my stamp table. It's kind of clean here. There's nothing on the scor-mat. 5) My kids and my 83 year old grandmother. 6) Jeff and I. We have fun together.

I love the story of how you met your husband, that's unique.... and the children as an excuse for mess is a classic line as well!

So wonderful that you can be candid about yourself, Paula! My sister was the messy one, and we had to share not only the same room but the same bed also! She drove me crazy! My 3 sons were an excuse to help me keep the house clean ; ) Loved your goofy photos! Oh, and kudos for being a stay at home mom!

Edited this thing 5 or 6 times and still left out the word "dating". We started dating right after Father of the Bride.

Paula, how fun to read about you and your family. I know all about that humidity. Heat is one thing but coupled with high humidity is another. I love that you shared the wonderful photos. Cute, cute kiddos.

Loved reading this and seeing the kids, Paula. They sure are growing up fast!
Also, I share your love of office supplies. I particularly love the things I have the least use for - fancy push pins and paper clips, cute post-its, trendy tape dispensers, etc.

It made perfect sense without the word dating! You started when the play ended! LOL

so much FUN! I could have written half of that. I'll spare you from all except, we are Comic Book/MTG/Video Games store owners. :P

I was lucky enough to have met Paula and the kids while they were on a trip here in Austin.

Love the pics!

I automatically read dating even tho it wasn't there, then I realized it wasn't there. It made me go hmmm, what DID she start, was it "dating" or was it something else.... Fun read and cute pics, sounds like you have lots of fun together! I like office supplies, and love older men too. Whoa, well, one in particular, mine who's 9 yrs older. Lol. It's funny what we come away with after reading something like someone's bio.

Paula, thanks for being a hostess for HYCCT! It is amazing how so many of you hostesses are such busy people and yet give so much to SCS by your volunteering! It is appreciated! It is nice to get a little picture of what your life is like! Enjoy your stamping!
